Sigil, the City of Doors, was known to so few in Quelmar, as it existed even beyond the Far Realm or the Void, and could only be entered under the most extreme of circumstances.
About[edit | edit source]
Entrance to Sigil from Quelmar is not reached by space-faring or plane-jumping. Instead, the highest and most elite of Quelmar can only enter Sigil through permission of the ruling powers in Sigil, who forbid even Quelmar's most powerful gods, Dark powers and old ones. Many dream of permeating the barrier and entering the greater multiverse through Sigil, but unfortunately for all of them, the Lady of Pain denies entry. But permission alone is still not enough, and the process of ripping open the fabric of reality and forming a Sigil-Ripple (often through the trinity of trinities) can one pass from Quelmar directly to Sigil, a ripple that is only possible by forming paradoxes not only in time, but in space and matter.
Breaking the rules of Time, Space, and Matter all at once is an impossible task even for the gods, and as such, Sigil remains sealed and removed from nearly everyone in the existence of Quelmar. Though this barrier protects Sigil from Quelmar, Quelmar does not have a similar barrier in place, and more than a few times in history have creatures from other universes and realities slipped through to the Quelmar Realm through Sigil.
