Pvt. Yvaine Walker is an airborne infantry paratroop in the Noman Allied Forces during Realm War III in Quelmwar Stories.

Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]

Yvaine is an average height Caucasian woman with highlander features including freckles and a beauty mark on the right side of her mouth. She wears glasses and normally wears high necked blouses and sweaters to cover scars on her neck from a violent incident when she was 19. She has medium length brown hair that she normally wears half-pulled up to keep out of her way during her weapons tinkering.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Yvaine is quiet but polite and enjoys hanging out with others in small groups. She loves tinkering on her own, going on long runs and cycling. She does her best to be kind to others but doesn't have a lot of trouble speaking her mind and can easily become overwhelmed.

She has been in addiction recovery for five years, so she does what she can to not put herself in situations where alcohol is readily available.

Her father was a Captain in the Navy during the war between Newfaire and East Hills and she idolized him and his status and his service. She wanted to pursue military service her whole life, but her older brother went into service first, her mother begged her to stay close and hold down a regular job. This drove a wedge of envy between herself and her brother, as well as an attitude of resentment against her mother.

History[edit | edit source]

Yvaine grew up in the beauty of the Noman Highlands, gaining an education in the safety of the hidden away area from the warfront down in Newfaire. After graduating high school with high marks in science and mathematics, she watched as her brother got to go off into the Noman Navy like their father before them. Her mother, afraid of being left alone, asked Yvaine to stay out of the military service and work a job in the city.

Yvaine took up a job at a manufacturing job in the Steel district of Newfaire, where she exceled, learning more about tinkering and engineering while she was there. While there, she noticed the foreman on her shift would insist that women would wear dresses or skirts during their shifts, which was causing them to have steam burns and cuts from their exposed legs or cause tangles in the machinery if it was too loose of fabric. She brought it up to the manager and not only was the foreman reprimanded, but Yvaine was given his position and he was fired. She advocated to make sure the other women in her area got quality, thick paneled pants so that they would be just as safe as the men on their floor.

Three months after Yvaine took over as foreman, she was heading out with friends to go dancing when she got cornered by the former foreman and while her friends ran to get help, it was slow to come and Yvaine was beat until she couldn't breathe, her trachea damaged, skin on her neck torn as he attempted to teach her a lesson for speaking up. A lesson she wouldn't soon forget.

After a month of recovery in the hospital, Yvaine's job had replaced her and she noticed signs that the manager had also been threatened or harmed by the former foreman as well. Jobless and ashamed to go home with her medical debt, Yvaine spent 18 months on her own in the streets, at first in the Steam and later in South Soffit. During the months after her incident, Yvaine found solid food difficult and she began to drink whatever she could and even at only 18, she found it easy to get alcohol from the other unhoused in Newfaire. Drinking dulled the pain of her injury as well as the shame she constantly felt for doing the right thing and still ending up where she did.

In CR 45, Alfie returned from his first service obligation and when his mother told him that Yvaine had been missing for a year and a half, he went to find her in Newfaire. He searched all of South Soffit until he discovered Yvaine in an alley near a pub. He tried everything he could to bargain with her and get her to just come home, but when he did, he found her difficult to work with and when she would dry out, she would become surprisingly violent. Desperate for help because he had a young wife, toddler and a second child on the way, he took Yvaine to an alcoholics program in the Soffit, run by a former soldier that served with their father during the Newfaire-East Hills conflict named Thomas MacCallum.

Attacks and Weapons [edit | edit source]

Yvaine carries an M1 Carbine as her primary weapon as well as a sidearm gifted to her by Cpl. Thomas and Dr. Jean McCallum when she completed basic training.
