The Brand of Nessus

Type Artifact

The Brand of Nessus is an ancient infernal amulets that was crafted by one of Asmodeus' advisors. Eventually the amulet came into possession of Govenor Solme, the Amnizu who ruled over the Bronze Citadel and who used the amulet to cement his control over his territory in Duumal. After he was killed on the Soulnaught, the amulet was claimed by the infernal cleric Nyrgoth. It is a three stage magic item.

Description

This black metal amulet depicts the symbol of Nessus and is always seemingly warm to the touch. The grooves of the amulet glow with a soft silver light.

As a three stage magic item, when a new user initially attunes to the brand, they can only access stage 1 abilities. But if they continue to use the brand, they can unlock stages 2 and 3.

When a creature first attunes to this artifact, they can access all Stage 1 abilities. At the DM's discretion after being attuned for a certain amount of time, the user can access Stage 2 and Stage 3 abilities. If a creature becomes unattuned to the item and later becomes reattuned, they could access all stage abilities they could before.
