Jollyfist

Jollyfist Burnale is a dwarven fighter in the Fantasial Freeze.

Appearance

Tall for a dwarf. Built like a brick. All long, thick curly beard and hair.

Has gold-plated, gem-encrusted enchanted battle knuckles and a Bell Hammer as his primary weapons.

Personality

Personal Motto: Fight, Drink, F*** in that order.

Respects people who have a great attitude (he defines this in a multitude of ways) and wants to buy them drinks.

History

Jollyfist left the Burnale mines in the Burnale mountains near east-central Osugbo after he and his companions met several Blowt deep inside the mines. The mighty altercation ended with a great tunnel collapsing. When the dust cleared, Jollyfist found that several members of the clan, one his brother were trapped behind the rubble.

While others worked to create ways of reentry and defend against the Blowt making more inroads into their homes , Jolly left with a band of Burnale toward Davenwood. Jollyfist's mission was to go out into the world to find out if others in the broader world had information regarding what the Blowt are, to gain insight into how to fight/stop them and hopefully to successfully rescue his brother and clansfolk. On the way they didn't refrain from robbery and mischief when the opportunity offered itself, no harm meant.

Jolly became entangled with the fate of Davenwood when he and his band tried to accost a group of travelers who were on the road, bringing sorghum to help the struggling residents. An attempt at a little light robbery became an unexpected and laborious adventure when a freak forest fire sprang up that all joined to fight. They were unsuccessful, and the already challenged town succumbed to the flames. When Jollyfist entered the town with the heroes, after bidding farewell to his clansfolk, they found Blowt rising and Jolly's adventures began in earnest. He and the others fought against the monsters and saved what residents they were able.

After this and other adventures, Jollyfist has come to realize that the Blowt are a challenge far greater and more complex than he had dared to suspect. He has connected with other races and personalities and broadened his understanding of the people outside his clan, reducing his inherent dwarvish tendency to be frankly kinda racist and growing his curiosity, humility, and readiness to engage in the challenges and joys of the world beyond his clan. While he is still a great lover of mischief, he has a growing sensitivity to his effects on others generally and desire to focus his mischief on those who cause suffering.

When fighting Saurus (climbing up on his belt and pummeling the bony torso), Jolly was Blowted. With Enrick's help, Jolly was restored. His desperate struggle with the Frost Giant within him made him gain understanding and respect for all spirits trapped in the ongoing struggle (fighting is his favorite way to get to know people, after all). He came away with a greater drive to end the overall suffering of Quelmar rather than only to save his brother and clansfolk, though that is still his core desire.

In the Battle of the Unmaking (?) in Ravel, Jollyfist gained both renown (with his great team attitude and eager fists) and two henchmen - Lieutenant Maximillian and Wubbly.

While Maximilian won Jollyfist's respect with his great attitude and fighting ability, Wubbly immediately and completely won Jollyfist's heart. After rescuing his brother, Jollyfist's next greatest goal is to help restore Davenwood and to return Wubbly to his home and cozy tavern. Then he wants to kill Saurus with his bare hands.
