Funerary Statues were crafted pieces of artworks built in the likeness of a recently departed Quelmar creature, built as part of the realm's defenses against The Hermes Seal.
About[edit | edit source]
By building a statue in the likeness of a creature who had died, the holy powers that be could see that someone on Quelmar could vouch for (aka loved) the departed, giving them a form of holy credit, and allowing the gods to trust that soul enough to grant it passage into the afterlife. In context of the Hermes Seal, this is incredibly important, as most souls who died were quite literally locked out of heaven for an indeterminate amount of time.
Funerary Statues were invented and proven successful in the Pteris city of Al'Adeaf, but their proven power led to the rest of the realm to discover and experiment with statues of their own.
