Berkley Davenport is a student at Ravendean High.

Pronouns: she/her

Look: rich/preppy...aesthetic to come

Family members/pets: father, mother, pet cat Whiskers

Favorite subjects: Art, Film Studies

Least favorite subjects: Gym, Geometry, Bio

How good of a student are they?: Mediocre. She’s not dumb, but most school work is not her passion so it only gets some of her effort. But she’ll still go to a good college because her father has connections.

What do they want to be when they grow up?: A boutique supplier (the person who chooses what the boutique sells) or a wedding planner

What do they like to do in their free time?: Plan the school dances and friends’ parties, go shopping with friends, read Raventeen and other magazines, try different makeup samples

What kind of music do they listen to?: Pop when she’s with friends, Dodie when she’s feeling sad; She has a music box that she’s had since she was 6 and she opens that to hear the song if she’s ever particularly lost/sad

What scares them about starting high school?: She feels like she needs to prove she is just as great as she’s always been, even if she is now going to public school, both because it's the life she’s used to and because she doesn’t want her friends back at the prep school to think she’s lame. She’s also afraid that there’s mold in the bathrooms and mystery meat in the cafeteria.

What’s exciting about starting high school?: There is a fall dance and a spring dance in high school so there are twice as many to plan. Also you can choose electives in high school so she can minimize the number of stupid classes she has to take.

What’s their favorite spot in town? (Feel free to choose one from the doc or create your own!): The Empty Bowl, The Button Boutique

Oooo another fear! I don't think she's wildly flirty, but I think she's afraid that her friends back at prep school will all have dates for homecoming because they know people and she won't because she'll only have been at the school for like 2 months

Berkley used to have it all: a huge house in the center of town, the top seat on the Spring Fling dance committee, and an allowance that would grant her anything her heart desired. She did not have a care in the world and everything always went her way. Then, without warning, all the magic left Ravendean. And while Berkley did not know it at the time, her life was about to change forever.

The change happened slowly over time. First there were the muffled, concerned conversations, but they always ended with the reassuring tones of her fathers voice floating comfortably through the house. Then came the day where Berkley caught her mother wearing the same necklace for a whole week instead of switching it out daily as she had always done. Changes like that continued for the rest of the year. When the mayor came for dinner, Berkeley noticed the food was served on the second best china, and she could not find the best china when she searched for it in the cabinet the next day. When she went through her mother’s purses to find one to take shopping with her, she noticed at least a third of them were missing. She asked her mother about it, but was told that they were all out for cleaning and she should still have plenty to choose from. When her father smoked his after dinner cigar, he snuffed it out after only finishing half of it and put the rest of it back in the box.

Then came the day where Berkley was told that they were moving and that she was transferring to public school. Her father gave her a long winded explanation about how he was reopening his business on the south side of town and therefore the family needed to be dedicated to that community, but Berkley knew better. It did not take a genius to realize her family was losing money and could no longer afford the lifestyle they had been accustomed to. She begged her father to change his mind, offering to sell her clothes or cut her allowance in half, but he refused and informed her that her allowance would be dropping anyway. It was the first time in her life that he had not given her what she wanted.

So, on her first day of high school, Berkeley walked into the cold public school with its peeling paint instead of into the gleaming private school with its courtyards. After recovering from the initial shock, she began to meet some people and find her place. It was not as grand, but this school still had a homecoming committee that she was able to join, and the library still had the latest issues of Raventeen magazine. There were even some shops that didn’t completely suck that could tide her over until she could meet her friends on the other side of town on weekends.

Just as she settled into her routine, another bomb was dropped on her. When they moved, her mother had gotten a job as an inventory manager at the local hardware store, and had been working hard to become a necessary and valued presence. She had been talking to her boss when she discovered that his child not only was in Berkely’s grade, but they also ran the DnD club. Convinced that getting in good with her boss’s family would earn her favor in the business world, she told Berkley that she had to attend the DnD club and become friends with the president. A full weekend of protesting only earned Berkley a threatened loss of car privileges, so, with resentment in her heart but the motivation to please, she planned to go to her first DnD meeting the following week.
