Dancer of the Boreal Valley is a Tabaxi Ranger / Rogue who is hunting dragons.

Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]

Dancer of the Boreal Valley is built for speed and stealth. Her tall and slender build understates her surprising strength and athletic ability acquired through a lifetime of honing her abilities as a truly skilled hunter. The purple cloak she wears has endured through countless battles with the beasts of the north and holds a certain sentimental value to her. As do the trophy claws around her neck. Having a natural camouflage of leopard-like fur, it is easy for her to go unseen in the dense forest canopies of Isonhound. Those lucky enough to have witnessed her fighting prowess speak of her moving with both intense purpose and effortless grace, earning her the nickname of "Dancer" amongst her clientele.

Personality[edit | edit source]

First and foremost, Dancer of the Boreal Valley is a loner, caring little for the dull comforts of civilization. She learned from an early age to always look out for number one, and if you want something bad enough you do what you can to take it. While she may not be eager to work with others, she is not entirely opposed to it. She is very much an adventurer at heart and can seem somewhat excitable when presented with an opportunity to slay a colossus or raid a dragon's horde. Some speculate that this stems from her abundance of self-confidence (which is not untrue), but really she just feels most alive when putting her skills to the test. Not many get the opportunity to know her as that is her preference, but those that do know she will always go after the biggest bounty and she always gets paid.

History[edit | edit source]

Born in the northern forests of Isonhound, Dancer was self-reliant at an early age due to the death of her parents. Their ship, the "Sargasso", was attacked by a leviathan while returning from an expedition to Breme and all hands were reported lost at sea. The legitimacy of their excursion was questionable at best, and there were rumors that her parents were in fact notorious pirates. Dancer made ends meet as a pickpocket until "earning" enough to buy herself enough gear to leave civilization behind and start her life as an adventurer/trophy hunter. She took on increasingly larger and more dangerous foes for the challenge of the hunt (and a little reward/bounty) and enjoyed living a solitary life in the frozen forests of the north. Her grace in combat earned her the name Dancer of the Boreal Valley. Recently her ambitions have led her to desire bigger prey and she has taken an interest in the great dragons of the realm. Years of research has allowed her to hone her hunting skills specifically to track/hunt the great winged beasts. She began her journey south to seek her fortune and the promise of a formidable quarry.

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

With lightning reflexes and cat-like agility, this Tabaxi is in peak physical condition. Growing up on the streets has taught her to blend into the shadows and take full advantage of the element of surprise. She excels at ranged combat and can track foes through most any terrain, with preference for the dense, snowy forests of her homeland. While traveling through the forests of Isonhound, she is always alert to danger even when engaged in another activity. While not relying too heavily on her magical abilities she can still call upon Ranger spells to help subdue more troublesome foes. Hunter's Mark and Ensnaring Strike are Dancer's spells of choice, though delving through arcane texts in search of Dragon lore may have given her some insight into more powerful magics.

Attacks and Weapons[edit | edit source]

Dancer of the Boreal Valley's weapon of choice is her bow, "Whisper of Shargaas". It was forged for her by a Half-Orc Shaman as payment for saving their tribe from a rampaging giant boar. While not possessing any apparent magical properties, it was fashioned from one of the tribe's sacred black ironwood trees. Its abnormal rigidity allows for it to deal serious damage as a bludgeoning weapon when enemies are lucky enough to avoid her volleys of arrows. When up close confrontation is considered a foregone conclusion, Dancer will opt for dual-wielding her short swords "Amaterasu" and "Tsukuyomi". These were gifts given by a mysterious traveling merchant from the east and each is said to have its own personality. Dancer will always travel light to increase her mobility and effectiveness in combat, but it also means she has more room for treasure. When all else fails, her size, strength and razor sharp claws can get the job done.

Recent Exploits[edit | edit source]

Day 1: While adventuring south of her homelands in search of excitement and fortune, Dancer has met some interesting characters. Arriving in Synàra during the festival of Asar Ogalas, she made some easy coin by handily winning a climbing contest, and some even easier coin by swiping a shiny necklace from a local vendor. Unfortunately, there wasn't time for much else as the town was promptly attacked by three ancient dragons. Always one to tackle the greatest challenge, Dancer went after the Silver Greatwyrm Sro, and to her surprise, was completely ignored by the creature. It was apparent that more work was required before she could tackle such a mighty foe. Switching tactics, Dancer rescued several civilians, collected the reward, and set out to learn more about the legends surrounding these creatures.

Day 3: Tasked with retrieving the "mayor" that was stolen by Sro, and enticed by the prospect of reward, Dancer set out with a party of eager adventurers to raid the Dragon's lair. Nestled high in the mountains of Isonhound, the hoard was not particularly hard to reach. The Dragon's ward, Belle, was formidable but our party was up to the task. We were eventually greeted by Sro, who was eager to divulge more information about the return of the other dragons. We were then presented an opportunity to test our mettle against Belle in dragon form to prove our readiness to Sro. After besting his ward we were rewarded with the return of the missing person and some recompense for the destruction of the town. While one of our dimwitted party members did their best to engage Sro in some kind of asinine debate, Spinel (a quite capable Shifter fighter) and Dancer decided to split the loot and walk out while no one else was paying attention.

Day 17: While sticking around town to look for more clues on how best to defeat a dragon, Dancer found a wanted ad posted at the local Inn looking for anyone willing to raid the vault of King Glubb.

Dancer would help assist in the capture of Horatio Cheshire.
