Ferris is a Gnomish Circle of the Stars Druid that is determined to use his newfound enlightenment to help the people of Isonhound into the bright future that he has seen in the stars.
Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]
Ferris is short in stature but big in heart. Unlike many druidic folk Ferris enjoys wearing dapper adventuring gear and fine waxes for his hair. He is typically seen with a large wooden mallet, his trusty tea cup, and always with his meteorite(pinecone).
Personality[edit | edit source]
Armed with a smile and zealous approach to "helping thy neighbor" Ferris swears he's guided by the stars. And that his deeds contribute to the eventual peace across Isonhound. He loves to chat with those around him and is always willing to lend an ear.
History[edit | edit source]
As a young Gnome in the city of Seglock Ferris always had a reputation as a mama’s boy. This didn’t bother him. After all, he sure did love him mom. What did bother him was watch rich and influential people treat common folk like dirt. Normally that would be a good thing, cuz dirt is pretty cool in Ferris’ opinion. Between the social hierarchy and Seglock’s push toward a more industrial mindset Ferris felt out of place. Like he was missing something. He loved the city and the fine folk he’s met in Sylvanry. But it wasn’t until that night, less than a year ago, that he knew that there is more out there for him than this life of comfort.
It seemed like any other night; Ferris had finished his work at the library, stopped at mom’s house to make her dinner, and brewed his last cup of tea for the day, when he decided to have his tea under the stars.
Ferris went out to the small courtyard behind his house and began to sip his Bizzleberry Tea under the starry sky when he noticed that one of the twinkling stars was much larger than the others. In fact, it seemed to be getting larger by the second. Maybe not larger, but closer?!
Ferris put his cup on the ground and quickly rubbed his eyes. He was tired after all, and wanted to pinpoint which constellation the extra twinkly star was in. But while Ferris was busy rubbing his eyes he was suddenly stuck on the head by something. Struck on the head so hard that he’d lost consciousness.
He awoke some time later to a headache and a melon-sized object laying next to him. Ferris got to his feet and picked-up the sparkly object. It resembled a bulbous pincone with a dark core. The dark core was covered in thousands of brilliantly bright sparkles. Upon closer inspection Ferris quickly identified different constellations on this mini map of the night sky.
From that night on Ferris would rarely ever let this star map out of his sight. He soon discovered that the map allowed him to invoke magic and change his body into forms of celestial wonder. The dark and majestic star map would only appear on the pinecone when beckoned by Ferris.
He initially went about telling everyone that a meteor has fallen from the sky and struck him with enlightenment. But after much ridicule and self reflection the Gnome realize that it was just a pinecone that struck him. But why and how did he receive such powers. And what is the bigger purpose of it all.
Ferris struggled with this for what seemed like an eternity. That is until the night that he learned two very important things. First he discovered how to change himself into a starry dragon-like form; then shortly after learning of the return of actual dragons to Isonhound.
This was certainly not a coincidence. Ferris decided to venture out and inspect this world-changing event. What he has found will change him forever. And hopefully with this new power he can change Isonhound for the better…… forever.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Ferris isn't a fan of violence, though he does understand it's value in the grand scheme of things. In combat he tends to stay as far away from melee as possible and aid his allies with nature and divine magics.
Ferris is still learning his way around nature magics so he favors his “heavenly gifts”. Mainly launching bolts of radiant energy (supplied from the heavens of course), healing spells, and some utility spells that he has been practicing in hopes of keeping his allies safe.
When the Kender gets “into the zone” he intensely focuses his attention and will on the star map within his pinecone. Examining the constellations and prophetic whispers that come from the star map; Ferris is able to shift into a visage of a starry sky. Once in this strange form he can enhance his battle prowess and temporarily gain a better understanding of some of the mysteries of the universe….. or at least he thinks he does.
Attacks and Weapons [edit | edit source]
As far as weapons, Ferris has only ever struck someone with his wooden mallet, that he typically uses to pound in tent stakes, and his tea cup, that he typically uses.... to drink tea out of.
