An Inciting Incident in the Sick of this Shit Incorporated guild was a misfortunate event that occurred during the undertaking of one of the guild's many postings.

After a tragic or highly illegal event occurred in a guild posting, the first thing the guild would do is place all involved parties on probation while they investigate what happened. While on probation, guild members could not accept additional quests.
The board of trustees, which typically held a noble or representative from all major Oppidan cities, would review the written interrogations that involved parties underwent, as well as interviews with witnesses and other parties involved at the incident. Afterwards, a review of the entire incident would be scribed, complete with the board's recommended disciplines for the parties. Often times these disciplines would involve additional training, stricter supervision, or in worst-case scenarios, removal from the guild and return to incarceration.
