The Quelmar Wiki

The Ssaphibian River is one of Isonhound’s major waterways and a vital water-based trade artery, perhaps the largest in all of Quelmar. It connects the northeast and southwest shores of Isonhound

About[edit | edit source]

Noted for its sometimes treacherous navigation and its reputation as a lair for fearsome draconic beings, the river plays a key role in both commerce and regional history. It connects important settlements and serves as the endpoint for larger, man‐made canals (such as the River Titicaca which connects to Sneerwell) that link nearby urban and mining centers. Its course makes it a preferred (if sometimes perilous) route for merchant barges and a coveted location for both legitimate traders and less savory elements like river pirates.

History[edit | edit source]

In 825 PR gold from the Nightfall Station—a secretive mining colony run by the Capella Consortium—was ferried down the Ssaphibian River by vessels that also hauled equipment and labor upstream.

Geography and Route[edit | edit source]

In this exaggerated hex-crawl style map of Umbralhound, the length of the Ssaphibian river and it's major arteries can be seen.

While detailed hydrographic maps of the river are sparse, available lore shows that the Ssaphibian River flows near Sneerwell and merges with man‐made canals such as the River Titicaca.

Notable Inhabitants[edit | edit source]

Prelnirith[edit | edit source]

A topaz dragon who lived just off the river.
