| Bakukin are commonly also known as "Sea-Serpentfolk" do to their similarity to both seafolk and serpents. Common tactics of a Bakukin, once it has detected you in the waters, is to hold its prey down and pry open its mouth, forcing water down a target's throat and drowning them quickly. It is said that the Bakukin have a working relationship with the [[Bakunawa]], and often times, when particularly difficult prey are fighting back, or if the Bakukin are having difficulty securing a specific target, the Bakunawa is surely on its way. Whether the creatures are born of the Bakunawa, or have formed a symbiotic relationship with the sea-serpent is still up for debate.

| The [[Venship]] encountered a pack of Bakukin on the coasts of Kiston during their fateful crash on its shores in 207 [[BR]]. At the time, none of them had encountered anything like the Bakukin, and dubbed the Sea-Serpentfolk nickname for the beasts.
