The city of Anrabula lies on the eastern coast of Amusa.

About[edit | edit source]

For the past 10 years, hardly a single drop of rain has fallen in Anrabula. For a desert city, that wouldn't be notable, but the city is surrounded by endless woodland and wilderness, as is true for much of Amusa.

History[edit | edit source]

While the Geyser Greenwood of southeastern Amusa has generally been known of throughout history, the first written records of a settlement called Anrabula date back to around 466 PR, during the Arctic Autumn. While geysers are generally risky to travel near due to their extreme heat, harsh perpetual winters made this area less difficult to travel, leading to human settlement when people found shelter in its mild climate. Several dragonborn and lizardfolk also took shelter here so they could have a warm spot to enjoy.

Being far more remote than almost anywhere in western Amusa, Anrabula was slow to grow. However, when the harsh winter ended, the typical climate of the region returned, engulfing the city in fog. The rivers were no longer frozen, making them difficult to cross as geysers brought extra heat once more.

Still, enough people had gathered there in the harsh winter that it would have been too arduous to turn back, so most people stayed. Dealing with ther harsh conditions meant people had to work together to survive, making Anrabula one of the earliest cities to adopt a democracy. In contrast with Galik, where only nobility can typically vote, anyone adult born in Anrabula can vote, or any adult who lives there for five years after moving there.

Notable Places[edit | edit source]

The House of the Rising Sun

On the easternmost point in the city, overlooking the vast ocean to the east of Amusa, the House of the Rising Sun if the first building to see the sunrise in the city. The building has had many uses and iterations over the years, starting as a temple to a sun god. Currently however, and for the last few generations, it has been a resort with a very successful casino that employs much of the town.

Pointyhat Pointe

Rumored to exist at the edge of town, Pointyhat Pointe is allegedly an academy for wizards to learn, write, and trade spells. This is alleged, however, as the building is difficult to find, so many residents wonder if it actually exists. It is likely named after its founder, Trisha Pointyhat, a wizard who wore flat straw hats, despite her last name and class.

Notable Events[edit | edit source]

About ten years ago, the fog began to lift from the city, as it would a few weeks a year, but it never returned.

Additional wizards and artificers have been seen practicing in the city over the past few decades, leading to increased technological development, but also increased costs for spellcasting components and more need to venture further into the wilds to find them.

The House of the Rising Sun has expanded dramatically over the past few decades, in response to additional tourism to the area, especially from parents of students at Pointyhat Pointe.
