Physical Appearance

Gale is a lanky elf of middling height. She has the pale skin of a life spend indoors, and blue eyes that are uncomfortable in their intensity. Faint lines visible around her eyes, forehead, and mouth, along with short-cropped silver hair give the impression of middle age (though with elves the exact number is anyone's guess). Her clothes are muted and unremarkable, though she often walks the streets of Ravel in a plague doctor mask when she wishes to hide her identity.

Personality

Gale is reserved and wary. There are those who find her deadpan manner and sarcastic humor off-putting, however those who can push past these to earn her trust will find themselves a loyal ally. Gale is pragmatic first and foremost, and will gladly join with other adventurers against a larger threat if it means better chances for them all. She does not accept charity however, as she sees it as a debt waiting to be claimed. Any good turn done for her she insists on paying back in kind, so as to remain free from owing favors that may be called in later.

Gale is dedicated to her work, both medical research and the treatment of patients. She seeks knowledge in both pursuits, and is especially fascinated with the process of dying: what causes the body to fail and how these physical weaknesses can be targeted by medicine to extend life. The arrival of the Blowt in Ravel has added new urgency to her studies as she has observed them bend the rules of life and death in new, mysterious ways. She speaks plainly about injuries, sickness, and death in a manner that may come across as callous or morbid, though she may not notice the discomfort this causes in those around her if she is sufficiently absorbed in her work.

History

Gale's time before coming to Ravel many decades ago is a mystery, though if pressed she will admit to studying medicine at the Sanguis Clinic. All most folks know is she showed up out of the blue and set up a medical practice in the city, quickly earning a reputation as a reliable, if taciturn doctor. Since her healing does not rely on divine magic, her practice became popular with those who wished to avoid the notice of clerics, eventually earning her an offer to join the Unravel on retainer. She considers the arrangement mutually beneficial, as the Unravel offers not only protection but resources for her experiments. As the Freeze abated, she has spent some time at the Balabag Bastion, working with Enrik and Thimbol Goldbone on projects to shore up the bastion and investigate Enrik's past.

Powers and Abilities

While she is good with a Gohei, Gale has little fighting skill and stays out of the thick of it when she can. In battle Gale works to assist her harder-hitting allies, using her experience to point out enemy weaknesses or stitch up wounds. She prefers to use negotiation or subterfuge to solve problems when possible, but is not above violence when other methods fail.
