Bethesda 'Beth' Booby - Expert Trap Maker
About:
Beth Booby was a half elf ranger who originated from Isonhound born well before 0BR, eventually making her way to all land masses of Quelmar (sans Kiston); being the first in Quelmar recorded history to do so. While known by many as Beth, Lady Bethesda made her spot in history by becoming the world’s greatest trap maker. Her inventions would go on later to coin the phrase Booby Trap which described a subset of traps made for the intended purpose of ensnaring unwanted foes in a more secretive and conniving sort of manner.
Pteris was the second land mass of Quelmar to be graced with her presence and knowledge. One particular artifact was discovered in the ruins of Tashasdet which alluded to Beth sharing some of her knowledge on trap making for something in return. It is still unknown what Beth received in return for her knowledge.Later sightings of her work on Pteris were discovered by explorers from the town of Brightwater, many years after. It was also believed that a devilish red brand was influenced by discovered artifacts and stories passed down by Marcellus (the orc bard) containing information on Beth’s traps, so much so that they began to go by the name of Trapper. During the later BR years on Pteris, much of Beth’s Booby Traps were discovered but very few could even attempt to copy her artesian crafts.
In her later years, Beth became more sedentary, living off the rest of her days on Osugbo as a small village merchant. While content with her influence on the world, she became restless at times and leaving her thoughts to manifest into fully fleshed conversations with herself. A few journals of local youth described her as an odd, old, crack pot who talks aloud to herself. However mundane her ending became, Bethesda Booby and her traps have gone done in recorded Quelmar history, not soon to be forgotten. Although the exact date of her death is unknown, her work in Quelmar and the phrase Booby Trap will live on throughout the ages.
