Twilsby Pendergras is a Variant Human, Sage, Wizard of the Order of Scribes.
Physical Appearance
Twilsby Pendergras is a human "quill-necked geek." He's all skin and bones at less than a hundred pounds from being too busy researching to eat and not enough physical activity. Twilsby is short, standing at five and a half feet tall, if he would ever stand up straight.
His mousy brown straight hair was cut with a gallon bowl as a guide. He all so has a four inch long goaty growing on his chin, which is Twilsby's best attempt at a "wizard's beard" he can manage at twenty-two years old. The most physically striking thing about Twilsby Pendergras is his gold eyes.
Personality
Twilsby Pendergras is a bright-eyed, and over-eager idealist. Almost in spite of his great wealth of academic knowledge, he can be infuriating positive. "Right...there's always a solution!"
History
The Pendergras name is deeply connected to the last three hundred years of magical (and political) history on this continent. Nevertheless, the family's magical interests have branched out greatly from Colin's artificing of machines of war. Magical instruction and testing begins not long after an individual is born.
Twilsby was named after a beloved great grandfather on his mother's side. Said name sake was an honored researcher and librarian at "The Ivory Tower", Jakop Warren Twilsby, but every one just called him "Twilsby." Great Grandpa Twilsby helped to develop the "Order of Scribes" in Sneerwell. That Order is same one the great grandson is part of and has invested him time and energy into developing further. After graduating at age 18 from Diphel's School of Magic in Sneerwell, Twilsby traveled to the far off continent of Amusa, in The City of Galik, one particular Scribes and Librarians, and The Domain of The Arcane Guilds to further his studies.
Twilsby's current fascination with magic and more specifically the use of scrolls started at the age of 3 years old when he "accidentally" got his hands on a scroll of Silent Image. For 10 minutes there was an image of the wizened Great Grandpa Twilsby following his Great Grandson, waving and making silly faces, much to the toddler's delight.
The younger Twilsby fell in love with the writen word, magic and furthermore where the two intersect in Spell Books and Scrolls. Early in his school years, he found a passion for sharing knowledge, research and experimentation. There's no area of knowledge that's immune from Twilsby's inquiring mind, but his deepest passion is in developing better understanding of and improving processes for using and creating scrolls and spell books.
Twilsby believes that the right scroll at the right time can save many lives and bring beneficial arcana to the layperson. He's working to increase accessibility to all in those situations and eventually opening his own Scroll Shop. In the meantime, Twilsby needs increase his library of spells and gold resources to create the scrolls that are most needed and adventuring is the best way to achieve these goals. The Guilds have incredible resources, but are slow to share with a neonate like Twilsby.
Twilsby is the youngest of the 5 sons of Tycho Pendergras and Kepla Twilsby; Nicola, Aristoy, Strabo, Eucli and Twilsby. Ever member of the family is a talented Arcane Researcher in their own right. There are high expectations for the members of the family, and Twilsby loves and respects them all, but doesn't always feel comfortable with the pressure that implies.
Twilsby greatest fear is letting down the family reputation, and hence is reluctant to disclose his last name. He is only likely to reveal his family if really necessary. Back in Sneerwell he was treated with too much difference and privilege for his liking. Twilsby much prefers having stand of his own name and accomplishments.
Twilsby has traveled to other plane of existence in search of knowledge and new spells. He made an expedition into the Fey Wild and the Shadowfell for more indepth studies in enchantment, divination, illusion and necromancy schools of magic. Twilsby did a guest speaker series at each institution in those planes. In fact, he found that the shadow beings he interacted with far more hospitable than the Eladrin.
In a fight, Twilsby is more likely to hang back and analyze the situation before acting. Swift, foolish response can get you killed. He leaves the rushing in to muscular, weapon wielding types. Twilsby is happy to share his insights with the party and spend hours instructing anyone who is interested in learning anything Twilsby knows.
Twilsby can get lost in conversation, almost literally. He can easily get diverted down a fascinating tangent that somehow loops back to where the tangent broke off just to keep going down the original line of conversation. The sharing of knowledge, ideas and concepts may in fact be Twilsby's greatest joy in life.
The more Twilsby understands a thing, place or person, the more he can trust in his predictions of the function, behavior, etc. of the subject. In short, once he understands, he accepted how it is no nothing else. Twilsby trusts his objective analysis of things, and as long as things consistent, he can understand what to expect.
One of his core values is to try to limit wasteful behavior. Another is, nearly anything is valuable in the right situation. One that Twilsby has a hard time with is, know to cut your losses, don't get over invested or fixated on anything. The one that brings him the most peace is, there is always a WHY, even if it's not a good one or not one you can ever learn or understand fully.

Powers and Abilities
Twilsby uses an awakened spell book as his spell focus. He also utilizes a magic quill that he conjure up at will. The quill writes in an endless supply of magical ink in any color he wishes. The feather end of the quill can erase anything written with the quill. Copying spells with this quill only takes two minutes per level of the spell.
When twilsby casts a wizard spell with a spell slot, he can temporarily replace its damage type with a type that appears in another spell in his spellbook, which magically alters the spell's formula for this casting only. The latter spell must be of the same level as the spell slot he expends.
When Twilsby casts a wizard spell as a ritual, he can use the spell's normal casting time, rather than adding 10 minutes to it. Once he uses this benefit, he can't do so again until he finishes a long rest.
