Drakes are a type of Dragon that is initially wingless and can serve as a companion to a Drakewarden Ranger. They are smaller in size and not as powerful as a true Dragon, making them far easier to train and use as mounts.
When serving as a companion, their Draconic essence becomes intertwined with the Ranger they have bonded with. Drakes gain power through this bond that they share with their Ranger. As the Ranger's powers grow, the Drake grows in size until they are large enough to ride. They also take on more Draconic features as they grow, eventually sprouting wings and gaining a breath weapon.
Drakes can be found in the same variants as the three primary Dragon types: Chromatic, Metallic, and Gemstone. Their variant of Draconic ancestry determines their damage type and immunity.
