A floral fey realm connected to Quelmar through Pteris
About
The Oasis is a fey domain, connected to the Quelmar Realm through a large pool of water in the desert of Pteris. It is ruled by the Archfey Cherise, Queen of the Court of Blossoms. It is an expansive magical garden and the Court shared the domain with floral dragons, led by their own queen, Sakura, a Cherry Blossom dragon.
History
While the Oasis’ history expands far before Quelmar’s, the story of the connection between the two begins with the sudden opening of the pool. At the center of a mesa in Pteris’ southwestern desert, a large blast during the last great battle of the Oasis pushed through the rift between the planes and formed what is now the pool at the center of the town that would come to surround the pool, Acqua Junction.
The wanderers of Pteris found the pool and built a town around the seemingly never-ending water source that did not dry, nor did it increase. During those early days, a few even dove into the pool, finding themselves on the other side, standing before a grand glass palace, reminiscent of a greenhouse and the most verdant garden their eyes had ever seen.
Peace between the two, the Court of Blossoms and the town of Acqua Junction, meant water for those in the desert and adventurers and curious material realm supplies for the fey court.
Notable Places
The Glass Palace
The palace where Queen Cherise lives and holds court is a beautiful greenhouse filled with room after room of exotic flora and vegetation. She creates and cultivates new species and alsogives a home to the smaller of the Floral Dragons who enjoy the freedom of open windows to leave and experience the wilds of the Oasis itself.
The palace also includes a large ballroom, a throne room, an elaborate kitchen and banquet hall, while the palace grounds have an armory, barracks for the knights (dryads and fairiedragons), stables, as well as a vespon apiary.
The Oasis Markets
Home to many smalls, carts, and store fronts of all varieties, this market is where adventurers will find any and all items they need along their way. Flourish sells potions and other consumables from her cart, as well as magical components. Cashmere, a fairy tailor, sells magical clothing and items that are worn such as boots and capes. Saffron Teakwood is the seller of magical armor and arms. All three take commissions for greater projects and custom items.
Flourish will commonly accept petals, leaves, and other ethically sourced items taken from floral dragons, flowers, and other local critters in the Oasis to turn into potions and will give a finder’s fee of 5 GP (per session) to those who bring her such goodies!
The Wolf Tree
A magical tree that is said to bring life to the oasis, at random times it has sprung forth different species of dragon, as well as other creatures from it’s waters. When consumed, it’s water will also heal a creature. (1D6 HP)
The Royal Vineyard
Operated by a fairy called Iris, and owned by the Archfey, a vast vineyard expands over the hills of this part of the Oasis and supports the Royal Winery whose wine is notably sweet and floral. The Vineyard’s winery is also responsible for the creation of a magical mead from vespon honey from the palace apiary that only uses honeys sourced from safe floral dragons, such as dandelions, rhododendrons, and jade vines.
The Deepspring Caverns
Home to the Spring Cavern Conclave, this network of caves is home to the springs that give the Oasis the water necessary to fuel the vast and magical gardens above. These caves use a pattern of magical glowing crystal to keep it dimly lit for any non-drow who wander inside. They are also home to many wondrous creatures, such as merrow, deer quartz and spring spiders.
Notable People
Vera, the Royal Healer
A half-tabaxi who was born in Pteris, she sought out the Court of Blossoms when she was being hunted by jackal gnolls in the desert. In exchange for their safety, she offered to bring her unique and expansive knowledge of healing and potions. She was promoted to Royal Healer after her cleric abilities grew enough that she could resurrect creatures and adventurers.
Adventurers can bring her their fallen companions to her, where she will cast Gentle Repose, allowing them 10 days (two sessions in game time) to gather 500 GP necessary for her to cast Raise Dead.
If it passes the 10 day limit, adventurers will need to gather 1000 GP for her to cast Resurrection.
Spring Cavern Conclave
When this sect of Drow abandoned their goddess Lolth in the Underdark, they were forced to seek out a new home or be hunted down by those they abandoned. One of their own, Buttercup, wandered through the Pterran desert for months, her eyes eventually adjusting to the surface’s sunlight. When she found herself in Acqua Junction, she immediately plunged herself into the pool that leads to the Oasis.
Once in the Oasis, Buttercup pledged herself to be a part of Queen Cherise’s court if Cherise would only save her family from the Underdark and those who pursued them. Cherise agreed, making Buttercup her Durward and rescuing the druidic drow. She gave them a place in the Spring Caverns where they tend to the wellsprings of the Oasis.
