The Esoteric Order of Dagon was a mystery cult based out of Amusa that operated at least as late as the 70s CR, with an unknown date of founding, potentially as far back as Prehistory based on their Ta-Shedet inspired mythology.

Suspicious Activity

From an account taken by Sierra Cell in 73 CR.

"At about five minutes past the third hour of the meeting, a great commotion arose in the building across the street from the lodge. It was a great and violent shouting and clamoring of many voices, which caused our meeting to be entirely disrupted as brothers rushed to the windows and threw them open, the better to comprehend what was occurring without.

"With the windows open it could be plainly heard that the cacophony of voices were in fact rhythmic chants in some foreign tongue emanating from the lodge hall opposite, which had been rented by a recent addition to our fraternal ranks, the Esoteric Order of Dagon. The author confesses that he had no knowledge of this society prior to the night recorded, but their order of ceremony appeared to be derived from certain Ta-Shadethen occult practices, though many of the particulars did not bear scrutiny in that comparison.

"Returning to a direct account of the events, after several minutes of increasingly fervent chanting the tone of the voices across the street began to take on an entirely inhuman aspect. Slavering howls and gelatinous squelchings could be heard intermingled with the chanting. At around this time we began to observe flickering lights behind the drawn shades and dark wisps of smoke issuing from the hall of the Esoteric Order. As we are ourselves a brotherhood given to civic-mindedness, we immediately called to adjourn our own meeting and render aid to what appeared to be a job for the bucket brigade.

"When we accosted the door of the lodge across the street, however, we were greeted warmly by the lodge master, a haughty man with a thin yet indistinct face and a bald pate, wearing green robes and delicate jewelry of a queer golden alloy. At some point in the intervening time as we rushed from our hall to theirs, the chanting and sounds had ceased without our awareness, the window smoke and light. Assured that nothing was amiss, we returned forthwith to our own hall and resumed the business of the lodge."
