Caul Davre (a.k.a. The Gorilla) is a former human, now Gorilla-creation, who was a student of Quimbleton Fiddleford at University of Xyrneiros

Physical Appearance

Vicious, huge, orange ape covered in stitchings of all different kinds of living tissue.

Personality

Caul Davre, being the product of Corpse-Stitching is a body shared by three beings/personalities:

Caul Barróg: This is Caul's most human self. He is fiercely protective of friends, more diplomatic of the three personalities, inquisitive, focused on his goals, and merciful.

Rask: This is Caul's most animalistic self. He is a simple-minded personality (like that of a child), easy to frighten, and anger (when cornered). Though the simple-mindedness does allow others to get closer to him if they prove to be kind. He is TERRIFIED of raging water.

Morris: This is Caul's most demented self. Morris is when the ape is most out of control. Morris views this body as a prison and will take his rage out on anyone nearby when he is active.

History

Caul Davre began his life as an orphan named "Caul Barróg". He has very faint recollection of what happened to his parents; just that what he needed to do was survive. Over the years of stealing what he needed, getting into fights, and taking on jobs no-one else would want, Caul managed to befriend a lone ape by the name of Rask. Fiercly loyal and protective of the other, the two were inseperable and very quickly grew into their own form of found family.

The rough years on the streets quickly took their toll on the two of them and Caul knew they needed a way out; which is where the University came in. Caul had stolen enough books over time that he felt confident enough to apply and get in so that they could not only have a home; but also have a potential path forward. He was right in this belief as he successfully got in on his first try and studied his first year under the tutelage of Professor Quimbleton.

1st Year

During the first month of 1st Year, Caul and Rask were on a hike where they stumbled upon a terrifying muscular visage standing atop a tower overlooking the animal sanctuary. Caul got closer to this beast and swore he saw the face of his fellow classmate Anodin looking right back at him. Freaked out by this discovery, Caul & Rask sprinted back to the safety of their dorm.

At Prof. Quimbleton's next office hours, Caul and fellow classmate Deara, discussed the wonders of folklore with the Professor. Caul was desperately hoping to have some sort of explanation behind what he saw when suddenly Anodin strolled right into the very same room. Stunned into minimal conversation, Caul waited till Professor Quimbleton left the room before he accused Anodin of being the same creature he saw lurking atop the tower. Anodin intially tried to dissuade Caul from this accusation, but Caul did not budge and Anodin was forced to reveal that it indeed was him. Anodin showed off his octopus-like tendril arms and while Deara was fascinated by them, Caul was immediately put off. Though this anger was quickly doused when Anodin asked "Would you feel better if you hit me?"; Caul knew that he did not want to go back to that life and immediately felt a sorrow for the way he judged Anodin. He apologized and Anodin offered to share his research on animals with Caul so that they could better understand how Rask is doing and so that Deara can know more about the wonderful abilities she was seeing. The three decided to form their own little study group.

The Group meets up at the empty medical study of the University and attempt to better understand the process that Anodin is working with. In this process they are quickly caught by Professor Arden Wesin. Arden sees their talents and decides to take them under their wing so he can teach them the process of "Corpse-Stitching".

1st Year continues and ends well with the group growing closer together through hours of studying, playing, laughing, and protecting eachother when necessary. One moment where this shined was when classmate Morris tried to destroy a project that Anodin created and Caul quickly pushed him away in defense of Anodin; making himself Morris' new target. This came to a head when Morris ambushed Caul & Rask on their hike and threw Rask into a raging river, where he nearly drowned before Caul saved him. Deara and Anodin did their best to help nurse Rask back to full health, but he never truly was the same joyful & active ape after that.

((going to reformat this following section more but just want to put in the relevant info))

2nd Year

Over the “summer” everyone tries to solve the problem of “Morris” their own way. Deara tries to expel him and is unable. Caul tries to fight Morris on the Wharf, and gets knocked out in the fight. Morris attempts to kill Rask but is taken a hold by Anodin and is thrown all around and torn about. Deara witnesses it all. Rask is dying due to Morris' attack. Anodin performs an operation and saves Rask by transplanting Morris’ heart. Morris dies. Deara is disheartened by this use of another living being .

Anodin uses his nerves to puppet Morris' body and make him live out a full day and then commit suicide to hide the death.

Caul wakes up and finds our Anodin performed surgery on Rask and put in Morris’ heart in Rask. Caul is FURIOUS and yells at everyone but is also torn and thankful for Rask being saved. Caul slowly dips away from the group over the 2nd Year.

Caul is comforted by Quimbleton and accidentally lets slip a bit of stuff revolving Morris’ death and Rask’s survival which makes Quimbleton a bit suspicious.

Anodin drops out of school the 2nd Year to pursue further studies under the tutelage of Prof. Arden.

3rd Year

Caul and Deara make peace again after reminiscing and apologies and they study together again

Deara does some blood tattoo magic on Caul to help spread knowledge to help him pass (he agrees so he can pass classes and keep Rask fed)

Deara and Caul are meeting with Quimbleton when Rask’ body starts over reacting (his heart is too small for body and is dying). But Quimbleton thinks his smoke started an overreaction.

Caul panics and meets up with Anodin, apologizes and begs him to fix Rask. It is revealed that he can’t safely keep Rask alive in the body in this way. It is decided that Caul will sacrifice his body and mind to merge the two together to create THE GORILLA. It is successful but now Caul is a mixture of Caul, Rask, & Morris. Three distinct personalities. He “drops” out of school but now lives life as The Gorilla and roams the hidden halls underneath the school. Anodin put a nerve inside of Caul and makes it so that he can always check up on The Gorilla.

4th Year

The original group continuously meet up

Eventually Deara learns about Paraska Manor and wants to go. The three decide to go but Quimbleton stumbles upon them. He tries to take them in to jail, but his magic is continuously countered by Deara's superior knowledge of magic (thanks to corpse-stitching / blood memories)

Deara and Anodin think they have to kill Quimbleton, Caul dissuades them and they decide to bring him to a bar, pour absinthe on him to make him appear drunk. When Caul drops him off, he says “Quimbleton, It’s not your time.", this forever associates The Gorilla/Monkey/Ape with Quimbleton whenever he drinks.

Powers and Abilities

  • Giant Gorilla Strength: Caul Davre is a giant gorilla, he is strong and will very quickly put heavy damage into those he deems a threat
  • Protective Presence: Thanks to his time at The University, Caul has access to protective magic for his friends (shield, bless, mage armor, counter-spell, etc.)
  • Crown Of Eyes: Due continual corpse stitching, Caul's head is covered in a crown of eyes that let's him sense danger in a 360 degree field of view. Good luck sneaking up on him.
  • Morris' Fury: Caul can fly into a violent rage if someone threatens "Rask" or if Morris takes control of the body. Friend or foe should keep away when this happens.

  • Sharp Gorilla Claws
  • BIG Gorilla Fists
  • Protective magic
  • Basic combat magic proficiency.
