The Calumet Mines are a mining region located on the valley wall where the Scar meets the Domain of Galik. It was a huge source of copper.
After the mines were closed it was registered as a historic site, and the nearby lake and cliffs were considered a Galik national park.
Suspicious Activity
In 73 CR, from files taken from Delta Green:
This National Parks Service incident file relates the final account of a fatal accident in the third shaft of the Calumet Mine, which sits on Parks Service land but is closed to the public. A witness reported to the Parks Service hotline that she saw several figures entering and exiting the mine building (she was not pressed as to why she and her friend were in the park after midnight, though no foul play is suspected). While the figures were inside the mine building, she reports that she saw "bright flashes of light, like electrical arcs" and heard "shrieks and moans that didn't sound human" from within, possibly amplified in the latter case by the acoustics of the mine shaft.
When park rangers investigated, a previously flooded chamber was found to have been drained and was now accessible. The chamber was roughly circular, maybe twenty feet in diameter and fifteen feet tall, with one entry. The chamber held the skeletal remains of an unidentified man, roughly thirty years old at the time of his death, wearing the clothes of a turn-of-the-century miner. A helmet and lamp were found near the remains which seemed to corroborate this identification.
TRIMARAN's addendum to the report, which was only filed with his Delta Green handler, differs from the official report. Human skeletal remains were found, but no clothes were seen. The outline of a person was scorched into the wall of the cavern ("like peeling Wile E. Coyote off the wall after a bomb went off in a cartoon"). The items identified as a helmet and lantern were both crafted from a gold alloy of odd metallurgical composition, and appeared more decorative than functional
