Whales are large mammalian animals that dwell in the oceans of Quelmar, rarely seen except by those willing to travel deep into the ocean or far out from the shore.
As late as 466 PR many people still believed that whales were make-believe, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Some believed that birds were effective wards against whales, including Aarakocra.
