Lucinda “Indy” McVey is a lawful good 24-year-old fairy sheriff of a small town named Briar Glen who lives with her wife, Cornelia McVey.
Appearance
Indy at her full height stands at 3’9 and 55 pounds. She has medium-length brown/blonde hair and amber eyes. Her skin is sun-kissed after years of spending some of her spare time caring for her friends farm animals. She has an athletic build, corded muscles, and quick wits. Indy’s parents are both Scottish fairies. She has a pair of iridescent butterfly wings that are pink and black. Indy always smells like fresh brownies. She carries herself with an air of whimsy and always: a smile.
Typically, Indy wears her hair in a messy ponytail, her shiny sheriff star on her chambray button down, and her families tartan as a handkerchief around her neck. Indy is descended from the Gunn clan and wears her heritage with pride. Indy sports a small scar on her face from a scary encounter in the woods when she was a teenager. Unbeknownst to her, a Mossy Horror was hunting the same deer she was.
Personality
Indy is an adventure-thirsty, thrill-seeking gal. She is sociable, good-humored, and sometimes reckless. Her wife Cornelia is completely the opposite. Cornelia is a strong independent woman who serves as a diplomat to the nearest cities. The two met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in a far away town called Saltport. Instantly hitting it off, the two merged bank accounts on their third date.
Indy enjoys baking, listening to live fiddle music and jewelry making. The Briar Glen ensemble plays at the Melrose, the only tavern in town. When dealing with legal matters as Briar Glen’s sheriff, she is very fair and unbiased. There is no tattoo parlor in Briar Glen, but Indy hopes to get one while on her mission to get revenge on the Kol Company.
Strengths
Indy is a very skilled fencer and archer. She is also a talented chef, good at making basic but seasoned and filling meals for her village. Her dad taught her how to hunt and cook game. Indy knows that are many out there who are more unfortunate than herself and always puts others before herself. But when it comes to her village, nothing matters more than protecting her hometown. Indy can stare down a hellhound without flinching. She has proficiencies in all armor, shields, simple and martial weapons.
Flaws
Indy has a bad habit of trusting too easily and being extremely gullible. Once when she was younger, one of the local pixie boys told her she could double her money by throwing it in the fountain. Her coins were gone later that evening and the boys enjoyed a feast of candy. Now as Briar Glen's sheriff she is more on edge, but it's still easy to gain her trust. Indy may be excellent in combat, but she is unable to run long distances or perform acrobatics. While she is the epitome of athletics and fighting strategy, she is unable to read or write common. She can only write in an ancient Scandinavian Viking rune text her mother, Cora, taught her. Indy never leaves home without a weapon, but tends to forget them if she's in a rush.
History
Indy was raised in a single-family household with only her dad to teach her how to protect herself when she became of age. Her mother, Cora, was the town’s seamstress and hairdresser. She has a close bond with her father, Andrew. Her father was a Briar Battalion general who taught her everything she knows. Andrew is now the mayor of Briar Glen. She is skilled with the rapier and longbow thanks to her father's training. The two spent long hours every week on patrol around Briar Glen, keeping the cattle and other farm animals safe from forest creatures. Indy’s mother died when she was 7 and left her an annotated copy of How To Get Way With Murder by Barnadict Bell (in common) and a silver alicorn necklace.
On a rainy night in late October, Indy was woken up by the screams of her neighbors and the thwack of arrows slamming into thatched roofs. Briar Glen had been pillaged by a looting band called the Kol Company. During the firefight, Andrew had managed to flank the enemies and shoot the second in command with a barbed arrow. One of the thugs lit a single stick of dynamite and threw it in Andrew’s direction, causing him to lose an arm in the explosion. He was unable to continue his duties as sheriff at this time and passed off the role to his daughter. When Indy assumed the title, she vowed to hold those thieves accountable and track them down. Leaving her diplomat wife and chairman father in charge, she left the deputy sheriff, Gabriel, to run things on security.
Languages
Indy can speak Common and Elvish but is unable to write it. She knows how to write in the Viking Alphabet (the script from httyd).
