History
Jeb grew up within the outskirts of Jewelspar, within walking distance of the alleys infected with the gates into Shadespar, their whispers a soothing lullaby to him in the rundown shack he and his fellow orphans called home.
After leaving Jewelspar in his early twenties, he traveled the realm, some sort of deep influence drawing him to Pteris eventually. There, he joined the Clan of Auton, rising through the ranks at almost alarming speed. It was as if there were some force compelling not just him, but the leadership to get him through. By age 40, he had become the youngest Wizened Elder since the founding of the Clan. Granted, his appointment to position as Elder was not entirely... consensual (none of the appointments really were), as the previous Elder, who had left on a mission to spread the Clan across continents, faced his near-certain demise, and rather than potentially lose the inherited power of the Clan, invoked a deal with the gods to give it to his favorite of his first acolytes: Jeb.
However, of course this came with a cost. Jeb, as a cost for his newfound power within the Clan, and granted to him by the former Elder, was required to enter into a pact with the former Elder, whose pact required him to continue his service to the Clan, towards their ideal of freedom.
