Physical Appearance
Josie is often found splattered in paint whether in or out of uniform. Having traveled back in time recently, her wardrobe is a bit sparse. Her day-to-day wear is casual and comfy - rompers and/or overalls, t-shirts, and well-loved converse - dressing for comfort and never underestimating the importance of POCKETS. Her official uniform was provided by the future iteration of the Free Defenders: a utilitarian, plain black crop top and black cargo pants. She has since...made it her own.
Personality
Cheerful and a little bit distractible, Josie is intensely loyal to those she considers her family. Her parents were also part of the Free Defenders, so she has been with the organization her entire life. However, they wanted to keep her away from danger and, while she has super powers, they were not as overtly useful as some of the other heroes. So, prior to being sent back in time, she was relegated to desk-work (the "D" team). She spent much of her time reading the novelizations and fan-fiction versions of the Silver Age, and she's always been a bit of a historical fiction junkie.
History
If her parents had their way, Josie would have never seen field-work. Her parents (both members of the Free Defenders) were never sure they would be able to have children. Saving the world doesn't leave much time for raising a family. So when the tide turned and it looked like they would be able to settle down they seized their chance and 3 years later Josie was born. The thing about peace is that it doesn't often last. Both her parents were forced out retirement, and Josie was along for the ride. She spent her childhood roaming the halls of HQ, and as she grew, her powers manifested. The day she turned 12 she was given an agent number and assigned to her first task force which, as parents had seen to it, was deskwork (the "D"-team). She spent the next couple years reading about the missions that other teams got to go on and dreaming of the day she could work her way up to the C team.
Unfortunately that day came. In her sophomore year, Top Hat (a villain who took aesthetic inspiration from circus ringleaders and carnival barkers) overloaded the city's power grid, allowing all of the villains to escape from New Galik Correctional. All of the Free Defenders were deployed to round up wave after wave of escaped villains, and team after team fell. A handful of remaining heroes, including Josie, united and determined that the only way to prevent this was to stop Top Hat before they became Top Hat.
Powers and Abilities
Josie has teleportation and portal powers (often tied to her art). She teleports long distances through sketches, and keeps a journal with her of all her doodles. When she traveled back in time from the future, many of her memories of the past became jumbled and she has trouble remembering specific details of the (now) present. She has found that occasionally clues can be found in her art, shadows and shapes hinting at the future to come or the present that has not happened yet.
