Fire Rune[edit | edit source]
Legendary, Wondrous Item, Requires Attunement
This smith’s hammer has a head of molten obsidian, etched with fiery runes that shimmer and shift like liquid metal. The Fire Rune is carved directly into the hammer’s head, glowing as sparks drift off it and hover in the air. Flames obey the wielder’s thoughts, bending and shaping as precisely as a master smith shaping molten steel.
Properties
- Fire Resistance. While attuned to the Fire Rune, you gain resistance to fire damage. When you deal fire damage, you ignore immunities and resistances.
- Controlled Flame. You can summon or manipulate fire with remarkable precision. You can cast control flames at will. Once per short rest, you may cast wall of fire (DC 17)
- Molten Crafting. While crafting or repairing magical or nonmagical items, you can use the Fire Rune to reduce required time by half and improve the durability or potency of the item:
- Nonmagical weapons or armor gain +1 to attack/damage or AC for 24 hours.
- Magical items being repaired regain full durability and may gain a +1 bonus to a single property (DM’s choice).
- Inferno Imprint. When striking a metal or stone surface, the hammer can inscribe magical runes or sigils of fire without needing tools. These runes can store a single prepared fire spell (up to 3rd level), which can later be released without using a spell slot.
- Forge Mind. While attuned to the hammer, your intelligence score is 19 if it wasn't already.
