Powers and Abilities
Frost Rune
Legendary, Wondrous Item (Staff), Requires Attunement by a Spellcaster or Giant
This massive rune is carved into a staff of frozen ironwood, glowing with the pale blue light of eternal ice. It pulses with the power of the Elemental Plane of Ice, and when bound to a wielder, it twists the world into their frozen domain.
Properties
- Frozen Sovereignty. While attuned to the Frost Rune, you gain resistance to cold damage. You can walk across water and ice as if it were solid ground, and ice you create with magic never melts unless you will it.
- Storm of the Rune. As an action, you can activate the rune to summon a blizzard vortex in a 60-foot radius centered on you. The area becomes heavily obscured, counts as difficult terrain, and deals 4d8 cold damage to creatures of your choice that start their turn inside. The storm lasts for 1 minute or until you dismiss it (no concentration required).
- Frostbite Channeling. When you cast a spell that deals cold damage, you add an extra 2d8 cold damage to one target of the spell. If the spell targets an area, you may choose one creature in that area to suffer the additional damage.
- Ice Prison. Once per long rest, you can target a creature within 60 feet and attempt to encase it in ice. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Strength saving throw or become restrained in a block of ice for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. The ice has AC 15 and 50 hit points. Destroying the ice frees the creature.
