Voscaera is a player character inn the Bedlam in the Badlands Community Campaign. She is Maedar Half-Elf Witch from the Pteran desert.
Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]
Voscaera is a roughly 6'0 elven woman with serpentine eyes and scales. She often wears a veil to cover her eyes when dealing with those she is not familiar with to avoid drawing attention to her medusan powers.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Having been born into an ancient elven snake worshipping witch coven Voscaera is often cold to those she deems inferior to herself, usually non-serpents and non-elves.
History[edit | edit source]
Voscaera's story begins long ago at the beginning of recorded history with the collapse and burial of the great elven city, Ta-Shedet. Near the end of Ta-Shedet's life span a group of elven priestesses received prophecies of doom from the goddess Meretseger and decided to split away from the rest of elven society and form a conclave in the desert to preserve the memory of Ta-Shedet into a new era. Roughly 1,100 years later Voscaera was born to the daughter of the high priestess that had led the conclave into the desert, and was brought into what had become of that conclave of clerics, now what could best be described as a coven of Medusan witches worshipping the goddess Meretseger, a Shedethan goddess of magic and funerary rites. Voscaera spent her formative years as a young high elf being taught the ways of Shedethan Elven Glyph magic. Proving to be a prodigy and due to her status as the granddaughter of the original high priestess, Voscaera was selected from among her cohort to be given special training to be blessed by the goddess Meretseger and begin training to become a host for the goddess. After selection Voscaera was isolated from her peers to train her body and magic to be able to survive the metamorphosis into a maedar or half-medusa. The transformation was traumatizing both physically and mentally; physically her body became covered in scales, her eyes became serpentine, and her teeth became pointed like fangs; mentally the transformation severed her from the collective dreaming that all elves go through when they trance and instead puts her into a solitary state where she can only hope that one of the gods of Ta-Shedet appears to give her command. The transformation also isolated her socially due to her becoming unable to hold eye contact with any of her kin for too long lest her gaze become poisonous. Her social isolation was also furthered by her transformation indicating that she held an important religious role in the community as the lesser avatar of Meretseger and heir apparent to the title of High Priestess. Shortly after her training completed and she began to settle into her role as the lesser avatar, demonic activity began to increase all around Pteris and she recieved a dream from Meretseger telling her to go out to find the Great Tree City, 𓅩𓆭𓈈, Urneht. After that command from her goddess, Voscaera went out into the desert to find the Great Tree City and discover the cause for the increase in demonic activity.
Languages[edit | edit source]
Voscaera can speak Common, Celestial, Elvish, and Infernal.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Voscaera's medusa ancestry gives her access to a weaker version of the medusa's petrifying gaze. Voscaera's gaze can make those glares at so sick that they become restrained. Voscaera also has access to glyph magic and uses it to bolster herself and her allies and harm her enemies in combat. Her glyph magic also gives her the ability to summon an sand golem she has affectionately named Newsratada or the sandstone that summons storms.

Rhogar Dreel[edit | edit source]
A truly insane and reliable dragonborn. I once watched him jump 40 feet straight down a purple wyrm burrow to slay a demon. He also appears to wield some form of glyph magic, I must inquire upon this further.
Syl Vipershade[edit | edit source]
A cunning little serpent. I wonder where his serpentine heritage lies.

Yet another user of this peculiar form of glyph magic, although in the rather unfortunate form of a dwarf .
