Long ago, the world was a very different place. Before the Sundering, the land masses of Quelmar where each connected by great bridges, and above all else, by magic. The spellweave of the Guildaire Period was by our eyes, almost unrecognizable in that mortals where able to manipulate it to incredible effect. There emerged a cost to magic in the milennia that followed, as if to stop what the Guildaire period had capitalized on for so long. Greater and lesser Gods walked and interacted among their people on the Prime Material Plane, and the people created vast and sprawling metropolis in their honor. The Gnomish Crystal city of Spryyg, where Garl himself sat as leader, the vast and incomprehensible Depths of Deepholme, where Clangheddin, Moradin and Dumathion swung picks amongst their followers, the beautiful and regal plateaus of Nevva'narra and its underwater sister city of Sea'vallara where Correlan Lorethrian resided. There where countless more, but these 3 are the subject of our current situation. 


There was no cost to wish, there was no tax, there was no limit. Wish was used as a tool both for problem solving and for infrastructure, for power and for exploration, and some of the greatest works in all of history where forged by its magic. The work in question was created by Spryyg, Deepholme and Nevva'narra, as with all civilization no matter how extravagant and opulent each must have a method of destroying waste. In the Guildaire period both organic and magical waste was treated in a singular, vast and incredibly complex magical structure, originally known as the '''Great Sewer of Raak.''' This system connected the 3 vast cities through thousands of miles of pipes that all lead to the treatment complex, larger than the biggest city and completely hidden underground. The Sewers of Raak where constructed under the continent coloquially known as The Lowlands, a place run and home to what where called "sub-humanoids", meaning goblinoids, giants, orcs, and everything in between. These peoples where generally considered the less civilized of the Guildaire period, but where still subject to rights and privileges. They formed their own customs and civilization, known as "The Hobgocracy" as among the sub humanoids the Hobgoblins where by far and away the most intelligent. They where greedy, cruel and ruthless in their methods, and their capital city of '''Troth''' was it made manifest. Towering buildings of scrap iron and re purposed pieces of other domains cast a leering and unsteady horizon, perpetual smog kept the light in the city low, and all payed their homage to the Goblin King, the walking god '''Maglubiyet.''' Among the millions of citizens of Troth, goblins made up roughly 60% of the population, and where used as an endless source of labor, regardless of the cost in lives. Thousands of goblins died daily, and like all waste from the great cities, where thrown down into the Sewers below the capital. 



The great Sewers of Raak where and are one of the most efficient and effective means of breaking down magical items and anomalies, separating and atomizing arcane components down into their base elements, and eventually transforming even class 5 artifacts into harmless dust. This dust and grime settled far, far below the surface, so far that no one was ever able to access it or document it, as the lower levels of the sewers grew increasingly hazardous as the Guildaire period went on. It is believed that the residue from magical items and the very base components of discarded corpses began to react with one another far below the ground, eventually causing the lower half of the sewers to become dimension locked even to the strongest Wish-Crafters *(the most powerful casters of the era). This was allowed to remain unaddressed by the 3 governments that created it, as too them, as long as the sewers of Raak continued to process the worlds waste, it was successful. Time and tide continued on, until the '''Sundering.'''

The events of the Sundering can be summed up relatively simply: mortal beings grew so powerful, so inflated with the limitless bounds of magic, that a group of individuals found themselves able to unseat the gods . The Administrator is the only being currently known to [[the Greenkin Foundation]] to have seen this happen, and even his accounts of this world breaking event are scarce. Of the cataclysm that followed, this is what relates to our current events; Maglubiyet was defeated and the great shanty city of Troth was razed to the ground, and in a deific act of irony, Maglubiyet and all his followers where thrown into the great sewers of Raak. This is the last recorded sighting of the goblin king.

''"Now that our history lesson is complete, I want to attempt to explain how I believe the current situation came to be based on my research. You see, Maglubiyet was in fact slain and destroyed, his body eventually ground down to nothing but a fine sand that eventually settled at the very bottom of the sewers along with countless others of his followers. But as we all knew so well in those days, magic of that magnitude is not so easily destroyed. It is tenacious, why even a tier 3 magical dagger is indestructible by conventional means, which is why the great sewers of Raak are so important. What they did not account for is all of that magical essence congealing far below the earth, the souls of the goblins, the magical waste, organic refuse, all of it ended in the same place. I have seen the ancient blueprints, and roughly 9 miles below the surface, in the bottom most layer of the sewers is a place called the "basin". This cavernous chamber is constantly under incredible pressure, compacting and condensing the magical sand into a sediment that eventually bleeds harmlessly into the rocks around the outside of the basin. This is where Maglubiyet began to reform, somehow able to pull the remaining energy from the dead magic in that place to make himself again. This is speculation, as roughly 100 years after his fall at Troth the lower levels of the sewers became inaccessible. We thought it simply age causing the magic of the basin to act strangely, but as you will learn, something much more is at play."''

As of [date redacted] we have become aware of an anomaly effecting recently deceased goblins and goblinoids. After dying, a deceased goblin will remain intact for roughly 24-48 hours, before anomalously completely desiccating down to 99% of all bodily fluids suddenly leaving. This happens globally, and for many years was thought to simply be an extremely excellerated form of decomposition effecting goblinoids, however after the Administrator initiated "Project Galahad" this was not the case. It was discovered that strange pipes, some as small as a needle and composed of an unknown substance containing traces of copper, bone and ligaments where finding the recently deceased goblinoids and pulling their organic elements out via the tiny pipe, and transporting them to an unknown location. When interacted with, the pipes become hostile, attempting to puncture or constrict any living creature that tries to stop or interact with them. If severed before retracting into the earth, the anomalous pipes will dissolve into a black dust that dissipates entirely. The Administrator was present for one such event, and before the anomalous pipe was severed he was able to detect trace amounts of the arcana that now solely exists in the ancient and lost great sewers of Raak.
