He carries a stone mace from his home village as well as a shield of bone. Along these bones are draconic runes of protection and defense (though they have no magic abilities). Around his neck is a golden chain with a medallion attached. This medallion if in the shape of a sun with 12 points. In the center of the sun, is an obsidian winged serpent with feathered wings stretched in flight. This is the holy symbol of M'at'akan, the Sun god. From this medallion hang three strands of beads, colored sky blue, yellow, orange, and red, each about an inch long.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Da'kan is a reverent lizard, attempting to bring the light of his deity to the world. He's kind, caring, and devout to his mission of keeping the light going in the world. With the world now enveloped in shadow, he will help in any manner he can to keep spirits up and return the world to light.

History[edit | edit source]

Da'kan comes from the forests of Isonhound, and a small village called Trook. Being smaller than most of the other hunters and warriors, he took to devoting himself to the temple, and the god M'at'akan. He strengthened his connection to this god, taking a vow of servitude to both him and the world of light. His devotion to his god led to the development of new abilities, such as magic fire, light, and healing. He began to develop his physical combat abilities while training these divine ones, in an effort to better prepare himself to defend either his home, his temple, or the people of the world. As he grew up, the temple began to send him out into the world. He had come into contact with many interesting individuals and many interesting cultures. From Sneerwell to Seglock, Da'kan traveled and spread the message of M'at'akan. He learned about the dragons, the fight against foes like Cheshire, but the murmurs of The One Who Waits disturbed him. He returned to the temple to report what he had heard. The temple heads had expressed their own concern about this, stating that they had been plagued by visions of a darkness enveloping the world. He returned to developing his abilities and faith, as he would need to be much stronger to help stop this darkness. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, and his development continued. He was in the temple of Trook when he heard a voice within its halls. It called to him, leading him towards the central worship chamber. There, before a statue of his god, he heard it again. It spoke in a deep, snarl, and the statue's eyes ignited into balls of golden flame. It said that the darkness was here, the light was fleeting, and the end was beginning. The statue opened a portal of sorts at its base, exclaiming that Da'kan must use what he knows to begin to combat the darkness. As he entered the portal, he entered a building in Gammelgard, and helped strangers combat some strange beasts which sucked the life force out of one of them when they used healing spells. He did what he could, but the voice returned to him. It screamed that Sneerwell was in jeopardy, and he needed to get there. Da'kan's body began to tingle, and a light emitted from him as he teleport ed from Gammelgard to Sneerwell. What he saw was carnage. A red dragon sat atop the citadel of the city, taking flight from a group of adventurers. It spat something onto the ground, and took to the skies. As it left, so did the adventurers, leaving Da'kan somewhat alone. But it was not for long, as new adventurers popped into existence around him. A deep darkness began to swell around the city, and shadows began to creep closer and closer to the living. As these shadows covered them, the people were turned to monsters, and began to attack more of the living. The fight for Sneerwell had begun.

Da'kan and the adventurers first attempted to help some civilians get away from these creatures. They were strong, and the fight was tough, but eventually the creatures were defeated. The group then moved towards a factory in search of a stone for an airship carrying other survivors. The group found the stone, and a deal was struck with the factory owner. The refined stone was then sent with a small group of the adventurers to save the ship. Da'kan and a few others stayed behind to try and bring survivors into the confines of the factory, hoping to build a small form of the astrolabe (astrallathe? astralwave?) to at least give safe haven there. After returning with a few survivors, Da'kan searched for whatever the dragon spat up and found a heavily burned lizardfolk, with a badge of white and blue with a metal bird. He drug the body to the factory, learning that the ffort was fruitless and the city was going to be lost. Gathering whoever was around, the group evacuated the city, and made way for Seglock. Darkness had enveloped most of the world, leaving Seglock and Gammelgard as the only known safe havens. Da'kan understood that now was do or die. Fight to keep light in the world, or roll over and become one of the monsters.

As he arrived in Seglok, he wheeled a cart with a long object wrapped in cloth. He asked about the badge, and who it belonged to, and what it meant. He found himself standing before a guild hall, belonging to a group called The Band of the Iron Hawk. He knocked to see if anyone could possibly identify the fallen lizardfolk, and an older tabaxi answered the door. Although the tabaxi did not know the individual just from seeing him, he did believe that it was one of their members. He entered and was led to a small stone temple, with the symbol of M'at'akan carved into the alter. It was here, that Da'kan would find home in the darkness, and where he could provide comfort to these people who lost their friend. He would lend his hand to their cause, and provide the light for them to fight.
