The Cloven Coven is a trio of three ancient witches taking up residence in the Ten Hells and the lower planes of Quelmar.

Founded centuries in the past, the three witches Theresa, Mackrea, and Curia came together and formed a coven pact. While each a formidable witch on their own, now bound on coven their power greatly expanded, and the cost of them all being bound together. Together the Coven would explore the lower planes in search of knowledge and power, becoming renowned and feared across the planes by Devils, Demons, and Gods alike.
At some point Asmodeus entered into a contract with the coven where they would serve as tutors for the young archdevil and spawn of Asmodeus, Glasya. Though what they received in return is unknown. While Glasya still respects her former teachers, they are among the few people she genuinely fears.
As the years past, both Theresa and Mackrea became content in their lives, with both choosing to settle down. But Curia's hunger for power was unsatiated and she chose to journey to the newly created realm of Hellmar in search of the magic and power she craved.
Years later during the Infernal Insurrection, Glasya would send her warlock Aliria Servine to meet with Grandmother Theresa, hoping that Theresa would share some of her knowledge with the burgeoning warlock. grandmother Theresa began to teach Aliria about the secrets of the Hells and advised that Aliria travel to meet her sister Mackrea in the swamps of Minarous.
On their arrival to Minarous, Aliria and the rest of her adventuring party, the Hellraisers, including Aivan Factorovich, Nyrgoth, Balaam, Sylphine Nightfall, and Endine di Valpadana, traveled deep into the swamp to seek the counsel of Mackrea. And while Mackrea did share her knowladge, it all came at a heavy cost for each member of the party.
