Taru is a Tiefling Bard living on the road with a travelling circus.

Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]

To the untrained eye she would appear to be just a small, soft, blue, teenage Tiefling. To the trained eye however she would also appear to be a small, soft, blue, teenage Tiefling. She is. Please don't be mean to her.

History[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Taru grew up alone on the streets of Galik, with no memory of her parents. Like many others at that young age she was often used as a tool for criminals' nefarious schemes; as a lookout, delivery girl, distraction. However, she never let herself be enticed into that life. Her true passion was dance. When other kids were out looting their first targets, Taru would more likely be found trying to emulate the ballerinas through the dance school's window. When other kids were counting their ill-gotten gains, she was counting her earnings as a street performer. She did learn to pick locks, but it was only really used to gain access to the theatre rafters.

Her 'way out' came with the arrival of Madame Zamporium's Mistveil Faire. This travelling carnival dazzle Taru's sheltered senses with its eccentric flair: the colours, the magic, the mysterium. She decided that day she would stow away as they departed; a week later doing exactly that.

Life with the carnival was fair. As a child with only amateur talents, she was mostly resigned to camp duties rather than performing (however was once cast as ensemble in their production of Little Shop of Eldritch Horrors) Her camp mother - Baba Zolya - was an old stout woman from a far off land who encouraged Taru's passion for the arts, teaching her the songs and culture of her people.

Carceri[edit | edit source]

On one particular morning, Taru found herself waking not in her usual caravan, but instead the desolate frozen plane of Carceri. Alongside her were three plane travelling adventurers complaining about having lost their power. On the contrary, Taru for the first time felt the power behind her words and movements. After a couple close dances with death, and the acquisition of a gorgeous felt scarf, she and her compatriots managed to escape the prison realm to the safe beefy embrace of a Toby Carvery back on Quelmar.
