Type | Cooperative Stellar Navy, variant Ridix Class Science Vessel |
---|---|
Government | Captain Valeria Saldani in command |
Location | Currently in the Amittre Nebula (Astral Sea) |
Inhabiting Race | Crew of 80, mixed cooperative races, majorly human |
About[edit | edit source]
The sextant includes living quarters and social areas to comfortably contain a crew of 80. Like the Ridix class design it was based off of, the CSN Sextant includes larger science, analysis and medical compliments than other ships its size.
It has been modified from the original Ridix class design by reducing the warp coil to make space for the "relic-field emitter", which allows them to travel the Amiterre Nebula.
Because it is designed for long term missions in which all sorts of issues may arrise, The Sextant is equipped with a full bank of laser weapons (fire damage) and stellar torpedos (radiant damage).
History[edit | edit source]
At the end of the long a drawn out Relic-Cooprative War, many of the cooperative's governing species, as well as the members of the stellar navy, were eager to return to their primary directive of exploration and diplomacy. With the fall of the Relic Empire, whose territory bordered the enigmatic Amittre Nebula, their secret technologies came to light, and the scientists of the Cooperative Stellar navy quickly threw themselves into creating a custom vessel to explore this previously unexplorable region.
The small long-distance Ridix class science vessel seemed like an ideal start for a long term science mission, but several large modifications needed to be made to the design to incorporate the special technology, being called the "Relic-field emitter" (though later they would hear that locals of the nebula call this a "Spelljammer throne"), which would allow them to travel the "astral sea".
When selecting command for the ship, war hero Valeria Saldani was determined to helm the Sextant's historic mission, and used their influence earned during the war to pull strings and all but guarantee they would be selected by Stellar Navy High Command. Almost the moment their posting was announced, they insisted on several select crew to be under their command, including their first mate, Larid Mahor, and their old friend from the war ensign Ylatl.
The Sextant's maiden voyage was a 5 year mission to explore the nebula and report back findings to the cooperative. The Sextant is currently almost 3 years into the voyage.

About 1.5 years into the mission, the sextant came across a mysterious and fantastical planet beyond a door. First contact on the planet did not go smoothly, as the team was attacked by a giant monster. Those who could not beam back are MIA, though with the ferocity of the attack, many assume they were all killed.
