Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]

At first glance, Thrush appears completely identical to the image of the student that her creator lost, Nightingale, as well as human. Upon closer look, she is actually made of a thin, sleek metal with a highly durable porcelain layered overtop to give her a skin-like appearance. She has pale skin with some cracks on the left side of her face plate, with her face framed by dark hair that she keeps softly curled between her chin and shoulder. Her eyes are painted a pale blue-grey and she's painted her lips to be blood red, finding drawn to the color by a small fascination with it.

As her creator, Guinevere, designed her to be a perfect replacement for Nightingale, she was encouraged to wear layered clothing to cover her doll-like joints. She is commonly found in high necked blouses, cable knit cardigan sweaters, fingerless gloves, long skirts, and high strung boots.

When Thrush takes damage, her internal mechanics begin to weaken and grow faulty, as opposed to when she takes stress, where her porcelain skin begins to show cracks, as if it might shatter.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Thrush is meek and soft-spoken. Her primary function was originally just to be a complete replacement for Guinevere's favorite student, but when she failed to meet the aptitude required to fulfil that role, she was designated to assist and reassure any and all hunters of the guild to the best of her ability. She takes that role very seriously, even now that she's been freed from her creator. She makes it her goal to heal, encourage and relax all those she encounters who hunts and destroys monsters that threaten mortal lives.

Burgeoning just below the surface though, it seems that Thrush has a small craving for freedom from the Guild's teachings and life and the more time she spends with Nightingale, the more she begins to mimic the woman she was modeled after in a new way. She admires Nightingale greatly and thinks of her as an estranged sister, a sentiment the clank is sure the human does not share. Now that they have met, Thrush feels inextricably linked to the hunter and is reluctant to stray far from her.

Her lucky number is 5.

History[edit | edit source]

Three years ago, after Guinevere, a master and teacher of ghost slaying Blood Hunters, lost her favorite student, she was determined to continue the work she had started with Nightingale. She decided she would create a doll of titanium and covered in porcelain to look more human and train it to be the next great Blood Hunter like herself. She called the doll Nightingale, just like her former student, but after months of trying to teach the doll to use blood magic of either an artificial blood substance, beast blood, or 'donated' human blood, it seemed the clank was incapable of the fighting style. Not wanting to be at a total loss, Guinevere delegated the doll to simple arcane magic studies, putting her in servitude of all of the hunters of the school and those who would return to the guild to replenish between missions. Since she failed to be Nightingale, Guinevere renamed the doll Thrush.

Thrush took to her studies quickly and deeply, taking the simple spells she was allowed and learning them so thoroughly she could use them with ease and great mastery. She was commonly ignored by the others in the guild unless she was actually needed and she poured herself into her magic.

After her two years of devoted service, she came to see Guinevere in her office to ask for a new spellbook when she instead a young woman looking identical to herself standing over her mistress' body, the teacher slain. Thrush realized in that moment that her predecessor had not been killed in a hunt as she'd been told, but instead was standing right in front of her, having just killed her creator. Nightingale's reaction to seeing a doll of herself was violent and harsh and while it frightened Thrush, it did not stop Thrush's curiosity from growing. She offered immediately to heal Nightingale from the wounds she'd earned and inflicted on herself during her fight with their teacher and then begged her to take her away from the Guild, to show her the real world and travel at her side until she could find a place of her own outside of the Guild's walls.

Nightingale reluctantly agreed and so, for the first time, Thrush has set out, no longer Guinevere's doll.

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

Most of her abilities are centered on the use of her hands. Thrush learned early in her days of manipulating the magic that runs her that she could draw that arcane energy to her palms and fingertips to present it to others. She has taken the time to carefully engrave and stain runes and spells into her palms and fingers.

She is capable of healing, relieving stress, put others to sleep, and in desperate moments, to use the arcane to defend herself.

Thrush also can use her mind to connect to another's and speak to them through an arcane connection.
