The Shadow Queen is a nearly indestructible dromond war ship created from the ancient umbral impression of a Quelmar Ship long since sank. As the Shadow Queen is so sturdy, it has been passed down from captain to captain for generations, typically Shadar-Kai. The latest captain was Captain Duskella
About[edit | edit source]
The Shadow Queen is the "indestructible, but not unsinkable" ship. Like it survives being eaten by a monster that Duskella thinks is a Kraken and is plane shifted in that capacity. Same with a whirlpool. The crew is probably totally fucked, but the Shadow Queen goes on.
At least, that's her understanding of it. She could be 100% wrong.
Part of her new story is finding out more about it, if she can. The other part deals with a repressed memory that started returning when she arrived in the Shadowfell.
Crew (SotS Inc)[edit | edit source]
As the ship needs a minimum of 15 people to run it properly, the captain in the SotS Inc campaign was tasked with putting together a rather large team. Those members were as follow:
- Captain: Duskella Jaspers
- Chef: Krik-Et
- Rigger: Hillevi
- Resident Mage: Iris the Hag
- Cabin Boy: Julian Winter
- Gunner: Vladimir Petrov
- Shipwright: Olga Petrov
- Healer: Ilakrin
- Swordsman: Heath
Other crew:
Crew Lackeys (0-level sailors):
- Behold the Navigator
- Cleo the Quarter Master
- Pattycake the Lookout
- Lola the Spy
Statistics[edit | edit source]
HP: 500
AC: 3
Speed: 20 ft
Pilot: The pilot must stand at a control wheel, typically at the rear of the dromond.
Crew: In addition to the pilot, the shadow queen requires a crew of fifteen, all of whom use a standard action each round to control the vessel. The Shadow Queen's speed by 10 squares for every 5 missing crew members. At swim speed 0, the ship moves forward automatically at 10 ft/round with no chance of changing direction.
Load: Fifty Medium creatures; two hundred tons of cargo.
Sails: The Shadow Queen takes a penalty or bonus to its swim speed from –20 to +20 depending on the strength and direction of the wind.
Runekeel: The keel (bottom) of the ship is a runekeel, a special rune en-studded keel which is the navigation focus for the Plane Shift ritual. When traveling to other planes using that ritual, a Shadow Queen must move from one large body of water (or other liquid) to another.
