Ether is a rare and hard to create substance that is pure concentrated arcane magic. It is used by spellcasters to increase their spell output and regain lost spell slots.
Description[edit | edit source]
Ether is a thin liquid with a powerful arcane glow. It comes in many varieties, with the most common being green ether created in the kingdom of Glendoveer. When it comes into contact with a magical object, it begins to spark and fizz. Ether is created by harvesting strands of the weave and refining it byinjecting it with low level magic over a long period of time.
Unrefined Ether[edit | edit source]
Unrefined ether is the pure substance harvested by the weave. In some cases it appears as thick webby strands, and in others it appears as shifting glowing crystal. Unrefined ether is highly reactive, and even the smallest bit of force can cause it to erupt into a massive arcane explosion.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Ether comes in varying concentrations from levels 1 to 9. When a creature who can casts spells injects a vial of ether, they gain a spell slot equal to the ethers concentration level. If they cannot cast spells of that level, they instead gain a level of their highest spell slot. They keep this spell slot until they cast a spell with it or until they take a long rest.
