Description
A matte-black blade veined with drifting silver light like shifting ink. The Sword of Mortem is bound to Aliria Servine, Guardian of the Passage of Souls.

While attuned to the Sword of Mortem, you gain the following benefits:
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, dealing an additional 2d8 necrotic damage on a hit. Creatures slain by the blade cannot be revived except by Wish unless the wielder allows it. When attacking with this sword, the wielder can choose to use Strength or Charisma as their attack ability score modifier.
Random Properties. The Sword of Mortem has the following random properties:

Soul Sight. While attuned to the Sword of Mortem, you gain Truesight out to 120 feet.
Protection. While wielding the Sword of Mortem, you can add your Charisma modifier to your AC.
Aura of Rest. Undead creatures within 30 feet of you have disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws.
Sentience. The Sword of Mortem is a sentient, lawful neutral item with an Intelligence of 18, a Wisdom of 20, and a Charisma of 18. It has hearing and normal vision out to a range of 30 feet.
The sword communicates by transmitting emotion to the creature carrying or wielding it. It values order, boundaries, and proper passage of souls, and can choose to sever its attunement with the user if it believes it is unworthy.
