A Ring of Marquee is a magical artifact developed by Champerty during the Realm War as a war to safely keep their wounded and reserve forces near the battlefield but out of immediate danger.
The ring is golden in sheen, and in place of a gemstone, has a miniature big-top tent protrusion.
The Ring of Marquee
The Ring of Marquee contains a circular demiplane approximately 120 feet in diameter. The outer edges of the demiplane appear and feel as if the demiplane existed inside a big-top tent. Inside the tent one could find 12 double-wide beds arranged along the outer rim, and one large round table in the center of the demiplane which could comfortably seat 20 individuals.
As an action, a creature who is wearing the ring of marquee can enter the demiplane, harmlessly dropping the ring to the ground where they stand.
On a rest, a creature wearing the ring of marquee can recall any number of creatures inside, allowing them to exit the ring. To do so, the wielder must know the name and appearance of the target, and the target cannot be unconscious. If a creature is not recalled, any attempts to "exit the tent" will be unsuccessful.
Behind the Screen
The Ring of Marquee was invented and used in The OathWielders campaign as a way to easily bring characters into and out of the adventure at any given session. As it takes a long rest to bring a creature back, it would be impossible for characters inside the ring to have any input (or awareness) of events that occurred while they were resting inside.
Since the ring requires someone on the outside to recall them, an entire party can never use the ring as safe rest, as one might a Rod of Security.
