Clearbrook

Type Town
Government Town Council
Location Alternate Universe, Velmaya State
Inhabiting Race Mundane Humans (majority), Changelings (minority), Werewolves (minority)

The town of Clearbrook is the primary location for the Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition campaign Chains of Rage. It’s a decently large town with a population of about 37,000.

Notable Places

North Main

  • The uppermost part of town. Recently fully gentrified, this area is home to Clearbrook’s wealthiest townies and priciest homes. The vast majority of the pre-gentrification residents were pushed out and they either moved into South Main or left Clearbrook entirely. The townhouses are uniformly white, grey, and pristine while the small strips of lawn are well-maintained. North Main has become the kind of place where people walk dogs that came with gilded charts detailing their ancestry.
  • Locations:
    • Town Hall: A building for record keeping and town council meetings. The current mayor of Clearbrook is Adrian Steele and his Deputy Mayor is Maya Rodriguez.
    • Renning Children’s Center for Neurodiversity: Funded by the Renning family, this center is a place for minors to receive psychological help, be tutored, get free meals, interact with peers and trustworthy adults, and participate in fun activities.

Old Dale Alley

  • The alleyways that bisect North and South Main. Homeless people turned away from the Main Shelter tend to set up camp here. Despite the destitute circumstances, there’s an air of community. People often take turns watching police activity to see if Dale Alley is going to be subject to unwanted attention.
  • Informally named after a good-natured homeless man known colloquially as “Old Dale” who died there.
  • Locations:
    • Old Time Booze: A low price liquor shop, but one that sometimes gives away an occasional hidden gem. Where the owner gets that or stores that hidden stock is anyone’s guess.
    • Ashes to Ashes: Cheap general store. The owner, Apollo Ash, runs a part-time psychic business upstairs that is moderately successful.
  • A statue dedicated to Rat is hidden away here.

South Main

  • The bottom part of Main. This lower-income community suffered from overcrowding following the full gentrification of the North, which worsened conditions. South Main is widely considered the least safe area in Clearbrook. Most of the residents are just scraping by, and many are scared that further gentrification will push them out of their homes (for a second time in some people’s cases). It’s home to cramped old brownstones with landlords who can’t be bothered to make sure everything is up to code.
  • Locations:
    • Lovell’s: Knock-off brand grocery store not too far from the Old Dale alleys.

East End / College End

  • Locations:
    • Clearbrook University: A decently big university known primarily for its various science programs (since they bring in the most money), though its Liberal Arts courses are also high-quality (even if they struggle with funding).
    • Clearbrook General Hospital
    • Sunheart Books & Brews: A combination cafe and book store run by a woman named Sophie Makepeace. The cozy environment provided by Ms. Makepeace and her employees makes Sunheart a popular place for morning coffee and evening relaxation, even if it plays host to the occasional bizarre happening.

West End

  • Locations:
    • West Woods: A place of significant spiritual/magical significance for the supernaturals of Clearbrook.
      • Following the “path in the corner of your eye” in the West Woods allows Changelings to find their way to Sungaze Keep: the seat of power for the Duchy of Daydreams and its current Duchess.
      • A portion of the West Woods also used to be a caern looked after by a pack of Children of Gaia Werewolves. The statue to Unicorn has since been destroyed, and the Heart of Blood pack has taken over. The pond in the center of the woods is a potent connection to the Umbra.

Notable Events

  •  The events of Chains of Rage primarily take place in and around Clearbrook.
