Sydney Fletcher is a player character in Chains of Rage, played by Nikki. Sydney is proof that no matter how simple, every action has consequences.

Physical Appearance

While quite small in physicality, her personality far outshines her diminutive frame. Small, but strong. Like an ant, her strength far outweighs her size.

Personality

Simple, but deep. Rough, but loving. Filled with rage, but also care.

This Story is True

The den mother's fate starts early. A single pup, suddenly with two youngers looking up to her. Her job is role model, helper, teacher, protector. She learned first to not touch the fire for it burns, as such she protects those who follow from the overwhelming heat. She learned the bite of cold, burrowing into the flesh until it freezes the bone, and therefore she provides warmth - furs, shelter, an embrace - for those who follow so they do not freeze. She gains knowledge - ingenuity, planning, preparing - So those who follow can go further, achieve more. She knows love - unconditional, unwavering, never ending - And so she spreads it to those who follow so they never know loneliness... And this is her purpose. The gifts, the lessons, the licked wounds and soft consolations.

But never does she ask for anything, she needs no sustenance but the love of those around her. She doesn't need shelter because it's better given to those under her care. Food? Feed the others first. Warmth? They should be at the center, she can face the cold outside. So when the world ceases to make sense... When the world changes and she learns what she truly is, that she is different from those who follow... That there is something inside her... Beneath the love of the Den Mother, is a Monster.

This revelation causes her pain. But she does not allow those who follow to know, she hides the pain and continues to provide. When the others are safe, she goes off on her own to release the monster. Small things that allowed her to relieve her built up tensions - terrorizing feral cats, hunting rabbits and other small prey that will not be missed... Reveling in the freedom that came from letting the monster out in small bursts... But when word of a monster gets out - regardless of how innocent it may be, there are those who will not allow them continue.

The hunters came, The Den Mother never knew how she and her followers were found... But the threshold was shattered, weapons drawn. Terrified screams, the crackle of gunfire... The roar of the Monster coming to the Den Mother's aid... And by the time the Monster rested again, there was silence. No screams, no gunfire, no warmth... Just blood, and bodies, and cold. The threats were scattered, the walls of the den bathed in red. Nothing recognizable of the hunters remained... And among the sea of red laid two small spots of white... Those who followed. They were caught in the Monster's frenzy... And they could follow no more... And the Den Mother had nobody to protect... To care for... No true reason to live.

But still she lived... There were others who needed protection... She had no more Den, but there were others who would follow one day... And she could help clear the way for those who would eventually follow. Burning through the thorns and hostile brambles, destroying the parts of the world that only exist to cause pain and suffering. The dark side of the Den Mother hid just beneath the surface. Her care and love luring out the real monsters of the world... And when they struck, she ensured they would never threaten another. Flashes of blood, bursts of screams, and then silence as the monster is thrown from the path. Years spent roaring at the injustices of the world left her bitter and scarred and no matter how much she fought new monsters kept coming. She intended to keep fighting until either she killed the last, or the monsters finally finished her off...

Until the howl echoed through the night. A single call in the darkness. A call for unity. A new purpose? And so she followed the call until she came upon a clearing in the dark forest. Within the clearing were so many like herself, beings who had seen the darkness of the world and kept fighting, each bearing their own scars whether they were willing to face them or not, and each one with their own monster hidden beneath the surface... She had no real reason to stay with them. None of them needed her protections, they'd proven they could care for themselves... But then he arrived. A pup whose inner monster had just emerged, the pain causing him to flee his den... In him, she saw what she herself needed. A follower who needs someone to follow, to learn from.. He'd already learned so much pain, so much fear... So she stayed, to both teach him what is means to be loved, and to realize that she could still love.
