History of the Unseen Eye: Through whispers and secrets, the origin of the Eye is rumored to have been created through the dying wish of a 200 yr old mage named Laviya. She had wished for her kin and those whose gifts ranged from the purest to the darkest realms to be able to see the gods as she had. Laviya’s relatives spread word of her passing and during that time, beings could come and pay well wishes to the family in her home. What they didn’t realize was one being would come to steal from the deceased mage and claim she herself was the next great Mage as promised by the Gods. Yori, an aasimar woman, would come to steal the grimoire of Laviya and start using her spells and rituals to connect herself with the gods and say that these things had been coming to her since she was but a child. By the time Laviya’s family figured out what was happening, Yori had already become a positive spectacle in the eyes of the lands around her, making it impossible to bring her down without them appearing as vain or trying to make a “good soul” look bad. With their silence, Yori would continue on her path of forming a group of those who truly could see and receive messages of gifts from the gods, while she herself couldn’t and wouldn’t. Once there was a grand number of people who had joined her, she named the group The Unseen Eye and proclaimed it a sanctuary for all those who needed help. As the years went on and her circle growing larger, she began to have her most trusted confidants being to go from city to towns all across the region to beginning building their own space for the Unseen Eye. The group had gained positive influence and was becoming a spot of interest for those curious about a connection to the gods through magic. This would result in at least 10 buildings across the region all dedicated to the Unseen Eye and a large number of members. With Yori growing old, she would come to pass it on to her favorite follower: Edris Zaroo, a elvish woman, who had made a blood pact with Yori to keep this group going and keep her secret until her last breath. This is where things would shift and lead to the demise of the ruse of the Eye. Edris was greedy and power hungry and would do everything she could to keep power and make herself stronger. This meant being more selective about who she let in, thus giving titles to those who have shown immense strength a d power, and using whomever she could to make sure her image stayed immaculate. She would go on to use forms of torture to “teach” beings of controlling their gods gifted abilities and use them against anyone who dared tell the truth of her and her dealings. While she was the leader and had her select group of beings that she kept closed there were still others in the group that truly believed and had connections to the gods and did use their powers for good (such as Peatro and Lairus) amongst others. Those who worked alongside Edris were either never told the full truth but believed in her charisma or knew and were as power hungry. Or in Osric’s case, manipulated to an extreme that he did what she wanted to protect his brother and mother. That is until a newer member snapped him out of his disillusions and showed him the truth. Adler LaRoux, a fore man, had been keeping tabs on the Eye for years at this point and had infiltrated the group to take Edris down from the inside. Why? Because he truly had seen the gods and they warned of a charlatan who would lead this group further into the depths of depravity if not handled. Skeptical at first, Osric would only come to believe this when Adler was actually able to connect him with a goddess who spoke of Osric’s past in a way that he had never told anyone. From there, the duo became a larger group and slowly but surely have overturned the leadership of the group into what the group truly should be: a safe space for those with questions and confusion on why they connect with the unseen and how to safely navigate this. In the last two months, all of Edris’s lackeys have taken off in fear and Edris herself is now on the run. Adler has tasked Osric with finding her and ending her along with any other tasks he has in Ravel that he’d like to take care of. The goals of the current leader of the UnSeen Eye was that of rebuilding their reputation and opening their doors to all who need it. Adler wishes to make sure that all that was tainted by the past is corrected and shown compassion and respect for the future.
