Asaug Capella was a lich who attempted to take over not just the realm, but every realm, using the power of the Tovag and its creator, Vecna.

History[edit | edit source]

Mortal Immortal[edit | edit source]

Asaug mortally lived in the early BR era, achieved immortality, and was shortly after imprisoned in the Sneerwell burial chambers and separated from his phylactery.

As a middle-aged mortal elf, Asaug and his brothers (Hygewald and Durmundri) witnessed a private magical show by Vecna the mortal in very early BR days. Vecna was obsessed with the realm's secrets, and had theories about the existence of the Tovag. From this exposition, Asaug realized that the key to godhood must lay at Tovag Baragu, and he spent what remained of his life looking for Vecna and his cultists again for more hints as to where the stone arches would stand.

Less than a decade later, Asaug would be arrested, captured, and banished by magical forces to the Sneerwell burial shelter.

Vengeance[edit | edit source]

While banished, Asaug's brothers would pulled Asaug from his magical prison by plane-shifting him to a parallel demiplane. Joining Asaug in the demiplane, the three would conspire on how to get back against the realm that had stoppered their plans. Working from the Astral Plane, the three studied for timeless years the secrets of the realm, coming no closer to answers for their hunt for the Tovag. Instead, they stumbled upon incidents in history related to the World Breaker. They decided they would use THE World Breaker's intimidating presence and whispered rumors to generate terror across the realm.

Eventually the brothers would use all the abberational energies of these Tarrasques to create 10 Mutated Chimera, stable monstrosities that were portaled around the realm to begin their terror streak.

PR Remergence[edit | edit source]

Nearly 2000 years later, long after his presumed death, his descendent Montane would rescue him from hibernation, asking Asaug and his brothers to protect Sneerwell, which he did for respect of his own blood.

Upon his resurrection, and after settling his debts at the battle of E Core Arena, he fled through the sewer's portals, only to realize it had taken him to Kiston, a continent he'd heard of during his original research. But here, he traversed a road he'd never seen, and found his way to the salt flats containing Tovag. At the site, he witnessed the dragons desperately fighting Vecna Cultists who were protecting the Tovag. Swooping in, he was able to drive the cultists back. He then returned to Sneerwell, raised nearly the entire graveyard's worth of dead overnight, discussed an alliance with the dragonborn natives of Kiston, and marched his way forward for battle, ready to fight the cultists. He didn't realize that the dragonborns had their own agenda to bring back Tiamat, and by the time they'd reached the cultist's lair (a secret realm known as The Adytum) civil war erupted between the cultists, the dragonborns, and Asaug's undead forces.

During his journeys in the Tovag, Asaug had encountered several of his own edditionals, each vying for the same godhood. An alliance was made, and the 3 Asaugs worked together to get to the heart of the Cultists' Adytum, and discover the demiplane of dread in which Vecna was imprisoned.

However, upon coming face to face with Vecna, the imprisoned god imprisoned the Asaugs and used their magics to fuel his own escape plan. Ultimately, Asaug never became part god, but his magical essence become part of the Tovag's creation.

Fun Facts[edit | edit source]

  • Asaug was riding his new mutated Tarrasque monstrosity in his aberration demiplane and he totally MISSED a disintegrate beam and it was super embarrassing.
