Half-Dryads are the offspring of a Humans and a Dryad (in the old-world), or a Human and a New Dryad (after 700 PR). Generally speaking, old-world half-dryads look far more like forest nymphs, while the half-dryads of later ages take on more Treant like forms.

D&D 5e Racial Features[edit | edit source]

Ability Score Increase. +2 Charisma, +1 Wisdom

Age. Half-Dryads mature at a similar rate to their human parent, and reach adulthood around 16. However, the live much longer than humans, maxing out between 150 and 200 years of age. As Half-Dryads age, the floral aspects of themselves may look withered, but their face never looks a day over 16.

Gender. Half Dryads have a 99% chance of being born with feminine features. Who raises them, however, may alter how they identify. Dryads who raise their half-children often refute the "female" label, instead thinking of oneself as something closer to a tree than a person. Humans who raise their half-dryad children often assume them as female. The 1%, the "Male Half-Dryad", is a rare (but documented) circumstance.

Alignment. Half-Dryads lean into the neutrality, and may find themselves as lawful defenders of woodlands, or break away from and form chaotic tendencies.

Size. Half-Dryads are the same size as humans, ranging between 5 and 6 feet in height. Your size is medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvison. Thanks to your dryad blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Innate Spellcasting. You know the Druidcraft cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Barkskin spell once, and regain the ability to do so after a long rest. At 5th level, you also gain the ability to cast Charm Person a number of times per day equal to your Charisma modifier. No material components are needed for any of these spells, and Charisma is your spellcasting ability for casting these spells.

Fey Ancestry: Half-Dryads have immunity to magical sleep and resistance to magical charm.

Speak with Plants: The dryad can communicate with plants as if they shared a language.

Languages. You speak Common, Sylvan, and one other language.
