The Glacial Rift was a portal opened to the Plane of Ice in 894 PR, allowing the inabits of the frozen realm to cross over into the continent of Amusa.

The rift would open when a leyline surge caused during The Thelryan Restoration would interact with the frozen magics of The Ring of Winter's Wrath. This interaction caused a burst of planar magic and opened a rift to the Plane of Ice right in the tree of the Dryad Eleria. While the owner of the ring would flee fearing more planar catastrophe, the rift would remain open. The magic of the rift would transform Eleria into a Winter Dryad and froze all of the surrounding jungle solid, forming a dome of ice over the frozen region.
The rift would be discovered by members of The Tempest Brothers Expeditionary Company who found the rift after tracking a Yeti who had entered through it and escaped the dome. They would battle Eleria who tried to freeze the company members and released her from her frozen torment.
The Glacial Rift would be discovered on the side of the Plane of Ice by the remnants of The Frostfell Empire, a clan of Frost Giants who had been trapped in the frozen plane when the Ring of Winter had been stolen from them. The Giants would begin to enter through the rift in search of the ring. On the other side of the rift was also seen an Ancient White Dragon.
