Archangel

Archangels were the first angels created by the Creator Gods of Quelmar in the beginning of days. More powerful then your typical Solar, these Archangels were infused with the gods' very own essence and given stewardship of their creations, to serve as examples and guardians for mortals. Each were bestowed a divine commandment to embody and the task to punish those who violated said godly law. The maintain the order and peace within Mt. Celestia and protect mortals from evil all across the realm.

Asmodeus, the Archangel of Patience

Before he became the Lord of the Ten Hells, Asmodeus was a celestial angel and most beloved creation of the Gods. Embodying the ideal of Patience, Asmodeus was never rash to action and was a brilliant strategist, able to predict the movement of his enemies and strike when the time was perfect. But beyond war and battle, Asmodeus' patience gave him the will to concoct marvelous creations. Fighting on the front line of the war against Demons, it was Asmodeus alone who could devise a solution to beat back the demons, while at the same time elevating himself to godly greatness.

In the earliest of days, the mortal creations of the Gods did not possess the ability to live on in spirit after death, and with demons massacring mortals across the realms, this meant that the lives of their creations were quick and fleeting before extinguishing into nothing.

According to the archdevil Mephistopheles, it was Asmodeus who devised the creation of souls which would allow a mortal to join their creators in the afterlife. But at the same time, any souls that defied the gods would be used as weapons to fight back the demon hordes. To power this cycle, Asmodeus was given permission by the creator deities to invade the realm of the goddess Othea, creator of the giants and goddess of calamity. Asmodeus descended into her realm of Thalmyr, sundering the giant goddess and removing her heart, turning one half into the cycle of souls, and the other into the Ruby Rod. Through this process he evolved from an archangel into a god.

Gabriel, the Archangel of Truth

Gabriel is a strict and militant angel who commands both adoration and respect throughout Mt. Celestia. He embodies all aspect of truth and any an all lies shrivel and die in his presence. Gabriel took immediate interest in the situation in the Lower Planes after the River Styx dried up and arranged a team of mortal adventurers to travel into the Ten Hells to investigate and recover a potential source of information, the Last Demon. But as the situation progressed, Gabriel did not hesitate to use the opportunity of escalations from the Ten Hells to engage devils in war with little care for any humanoid casualties who got caught in the middle.
