However, as dragon attacks became more and more common, tensions rose between the musicians' guild and the rest of the upper class. After a particularly vicious attack by a green dragon killed dozens of dock workers, the merchant class retreated into the central walls of the city, ignoring the damage to the common people and their homes and leaving them vulnerable to further attacks. The musicians' guild came together to boycott any events held by the merchant class, writing and performing protest songs. As these protests continued, members of the guild began to disappear under mysterious circumstances. Rumors linked these disappearances to the powerful silk trader Arbane Eilden, who is believed to have hired kidnappers who spoke out about the injustice related to the dragon attacks. After a particularly aggressive protest performance outside of Eilden's palace, word got around that Miles and Tiriana were his next targets. In the middle of the night, Eilden's men captured Tiriana, and her location is currently unknown. Miles managed to escape with some weapons and supplies, but was forced to leave his prized lyre behind. |

Miles Ison is a Tabaxi bard formerly from the bustling trade center of Deeplake on the continent of Isonhound, where he used to be a popular and well-connected musician.
Personality
Miles is generally friendly and sociable but relatively cautious. While Miles is accustomed to the social standards of the upper class, he has disdain for their arrogance and unnecessary formality.
History
Miles was born and raised in Deeplake, the son of a former noble of the house Saufort. While the aristocracy of Deeplake had long since been overpowered by the merchant class, noble names still held some social influence, giving Miles access to a bustling social scene. He spent his late adolescence aimlessly partying with a wide assortment of nobles, diplomats, and socialites. During this phase of his life, he met his close friend and former bandmate Tiriana. She gave him his first lyre, and introduced him to the musicians' guild of the city. They made a name for themselves as a party band for feasts, weddings, and other prestigious events. In those years, Tiri and Miles wrote dozens of songs, and this was the peak of Miles' creative fulfillment.
After his escape, Miles once and for all cut all ties with his noble roots, changing his surname from Saufort to Ison, deeming himself a citizen of Isonhound. He has not written a single new song since. Until the events of Into the Greedy Green, he spent his time wandering the continent for some sense of purpose, careful to avoid the influence of Arbane Eilden's trade network.
Into The Greedy Green
Miles' travels brought him to the town of Synàra for the festival of Asar Ogalas, where he met the rest of the party members. He, along with the other adventurers, jumped into action when a red dragon descended on the village. The adventurers saved villagers from the burning buildings of the village, but allowed the dragon to escape. This event gave Miles the purpose that he was searching for: to save the people of Isonhound from the dragon menace.
Rocko
Rocko is a pet rock that Miles purchased in Synàra during the festival of Asar Ogalas for an incredible bargain of only three copper. While Rocko appears to be an ordinary rock, he is a wonderful companion and is more intelligent than he first appears. Rocko has already demonstrated his prowess in chess, assisting Miles to beat the chess playing chicken of the festival. Rocko' s favorite type of music is... jazz.
Attacks and Weapons
As a college of swords bard, Miles attacks by duel wielding a rapier and a dagger, using his speed to weave his way in and out of danger. In terms of spells, Miles mostly supports his fellow party members with spells like Healing Word and Enhance Ability, but he also strikes enemies himself using spells like Vicious Mockery.
