The Seelie Court is a group of extremely powerful fey creatures. Their combined power rivals that of a lesser god. They reside in and oversee happenings in the Feywild.

About

A chaotic neutral group of fey with the combined power of a god, The Seelie Court oversees the nature domain, due to the natural connection that fey typically have with it. It follows a matriarchal monarchy, due to the fact that a mysterious magic prevents any male from surviving the process of being crowned. The Seelie Court is known throughout for being generally good, but with chaotic tendencies and no strict moral code.

A nebulous connection exists between the Seelie Court of the Feywild and the Seldarine of Arborea, though it has not been made clear what the connection is, besides the fact that Wood Elves and High Elves differ in opinion of where the true "elven pantheon" lies.

History

Creation

As the name might suggest, the Fey Wild was both wondrous and unruly. It was a beautiful yet treacherous plane, filled with magic and mystery but also chaos and danger. Legend tells the story of The Seelie Court first being formed under the faerie Queen Titania, who assembled the most powerful fey she could find in order to create a semblance of a governing body in the Fey Wild. Legend suggests that the queen traveled the plane searching for the most skilled and innately magical beings she could find and recruited them to join her court of exemplars.

Ultimately, through the process of and aftermath of forming the council, the queen realized that she quite liked the Fey Wild the way that it was. She decided to leave plane as it was, chaotic and wild and wonderfully unpredictable.

However, her efforts did not go unnoticed. It is not every day that the most powerful of fey unite as one front, and The Seelie Court as an organization held more power then they knew what to do with. Ultimately, it was decided by the six great creators that they were too powerful to ignore. Through negotiations, The Seelie Court managed to obtain deity status, giving them access to the other planes and the nature domain on the condition that they remain a unit and use their fey powers to enhance the nature on the material plane of Quelmar.

On Again-Off Again

At various points through out history, The Seelie Court has been known for having catastrophic and dramatic break ups. They always wound up reuniting in order to regain the deity power granted to them by staying together as the court. The reason for these separations is unknown, although it is thought to be linked to lover's quarrels and bipartisanship.
