Background[edit | edit source]
Much like the Quelmar Creation Myths of the gods and four powers that shaped the universe, the Underdark has it's own ancient accounts of higher beings. These beings, like the underdark itself, are shrouded in mystery and haunted horror.
While those rich in religious knowledge have learned a little about the divine entity Torog, said to have shaped the Underdark, those on the surface will find sparse literature about the Underdark's true gods.
The Old Ones exist in purely mythological ways, opposed to the Quelmar Gods, who interfere and rebuke and send forth holy warriors.
The lack of evidence for these powers has led to very little documentation on whether they actually exist or not. The few that claimed to have found proof have themselves gone insane, losing their mind and all sense of reality in the hunt for these powers.
Despite all of the intrigue surrounding them, the names of the Old Ones are often whispered in prayers in the darkest corners of the Underdark, and those who listen closely can hear tales of this dark pantheon.
