Prehistoric Article

This article contains information said to be from Prehistoric Times. The validity of prehistoric content is dubious at best due to poor recordkeeping in the era, and should be considered unreliable, or at best: Legend.

Ymbtry (p. Ee-mtree) was a mythological figure from Quelmar's prehistory, a magical warden said to have been the realm's only hope on several occasions.

He was said to have come from the land later named in his honor: Ymbtrymman

About[edit | edit source]

Ymbtry's Impossible Prison (called "The Blackened Hallmark" in some literature) was an ancient ritual (A Level 10 Spell, similar to that of Damnation) that was said to be unescapable, a form of Imprisonment/Banishment that hid creatures away in a pocket dimension (rumored to have been The BackHalls).

Recorded information on Ymbtry's original prison spell was lost to time, but it has been rumored that some creatures, either on purpose, or more likely accidentally, were able to imprison things or creatures to Ymbtry's prison. Without having a two-way passage, it's likely that most on Quelmar never even knew they had accessed the ultimate and ancient prison magic.

It was said that the ritual required a 30 foot boundry circle, and required the target of the spell to stay within the bounds of the ritual circle for at least a minute so that the powerful magic could take effect.

Example Banishment[edit | edit source]

"Thou shall know the imprisonment of the Enchanter of the Blackened Hallmarks, whose name is the Duality of the Dawning Light, whose sigil is the Two-Headed Doorway. Here be its chant, here be its summonings, here be its formulae, its conjurations, here be its ritual. The god Amun-Her, shall be Prisoner of the Blackened Hallmarks. By these chains you shall forever wander, and let the inhabitants of the Blackened Hallmarks ever be as your siphoning captors. gôdianforlêosan unf¯æle ôs"

Rumored Victories[edit | edit source]

Ymbtry was said to have been the destroyer of Amun-Her Khepeshef, ancient Serpentine pharaoh-god.
