Leif Gladefel was an Elardrin Ranger who sought to free the Ten Towns of Breme from the icy grasp of Auril - the Frostmaiden - around the year 750 BR. The early days of his adventure with the Ice Cubes were marked with a broodish attitude and a reluctance to open up to others; instead spending his time journalling and trying to look mysterious with his dark clothing. As more time was spent with his party more of his identity became apparent, though not often on his own terms - whether through the Frostmaiden's taunts or the warnings of the mummified elven prince dubbed Wrappers.
Appearance
Appearing as a Winter Eladrin, Leif has pale blue skin which - should the moon ever be allowed to shine in the Ten Towns - sparkles in the moonlight. Since reestablishing his connection to his magical fae ancestry, he has begun to sprout a crown of wooden 'horns' around the top of his head; delving deeper into that connection has only caused them to grow more prominent.
History
The Boy Prince
Lief began life as the youngest child of the House of Gladefel, a prominent noble family in the Faewild's Court of Mirth. Much like his parents, Caebhin and Trella, he exemplified the joy and laughter known of the Spring Eladrin, and could often be found delighting visiting guests of his family with dances and his archery finesse.
His father was known as a good, honest leader, seeking unity and peace above all else. He rose to prominence as a key advocate for the re-establishment of the Seelie Court, after the feuding and fracturing brought by the War of Essence saw its dissolution.
Leif idolised not only his parents, but his siblings too. His eldest brother, Taghin followed much in their fathers' footsteps, involving himself more in matters of court as he got older, as well as being a gifted sword dancer. His triplet sisters, Kala, Fren, and Tiili were all magically gifted, experts in Abjuration, Enchantment, and Conjuration respectively.
Glade Fall
Leif last saw his father on the eve of his 15th birthday. They attended a parade together; soldiers Caebhin would soon be leading to join the Seelie Court in defence of the Wilds. As the troops marched on in song and shining armour, his father spoke with him, making him promise to stay true to his heart, and to stand for those who could not stand for themselves: the broken, the beaten, the damned.
News of his fall in battle would reach the Gladefel's almost a year and a half later. He was heralded as a martyr across the realm, however when Leif looked upon the statues and murals of the golden summer hero he saw only the Arch Prince Caebhin, not his father. Gone was the love and the laughter Leif had sought for so long to emulate; only the passion of battle remained behind the eyes of the people's champion.
If the loss of his father wasn't hard enough, the loss of his family would cut even deeper. His mother retreated into legislative denial, busying herself too much with matters of state to grieve. His brother relished in the legend. It wasn't long before he too was wreathed in flame, presenting as a Summer Eladrin and brandishing his martial prowess; looking to fill the image of their father the people clambered for. Kala and Fren further involved themselves in their studies of the arcane arts. Tiili alone maintained the light of the Gladefels, never letting her visible love for her family diminish. When Leif decided to leave she was the only one he told, who gifted him an enamel butterfly cloak pin - their family sigil.
The Wanderer
The next three years saw Leif hone his survivalist skills, his edgy moping, and lack of understanding of identity; the frigid lands of the Court of Twilight offered him a stark escape from his turbulent life as he began presenting as a Winter Eladrin. This interim included a brief stint with a local adventuring team as they investigated a growing darkness deep in the lands of this winter court. It ended swiftly and unpleasantly, with he the only survivor. He shut himself off from others and sulked off to a meagre existence in the dark cold forests.
Still finding himself too in tune with his homeland, he decided to find a way out from the Faewilds and make his way to the material plane. Arriving in the similarly frozen waste of Breme he met with the Ursin Jeff Bridges, who served as his guide to the surrounding lands and beyond. Vowing to explore this new and mysterious world, the eladrin set out from the frozen continent to Isonhound. He didn’t make it much further though, instead finding some comfort in the magical forests for some peculiar reason.
