Rada is a Human Monk from the badlands outside Brightwater, working alongside her twin brother Ira as sherpas for arriving Human settlers at the behest of their nomadic monastery.

Ancestry[edit | edit source]

Rada is descended from the earliest stock of Humans to arrive in Pteris. There is no agreed upon explanation as to how Humans materialized in the Quelmar Realm, but what is known is that the first ship of Pterish Humans reached the continent's eastern shores around 0 BR. Seeking a new land where they could be free to establish a permanent convent, they pushed westward across the arid continent and found it speckled with dangers the likes of which they had never encountered. Monstrous creatures roving the deserts and dunes thwarted attempts to settle in any one place for too long, so they were forced to wander in perpetuity.

Over time, some members of the roaming convent found that they could draw energy from beyond the realm's material plane in the form of ki, so they taught the practice to those amongst them who were able and willing to learn. Enough people demonstrated this ki ability to establish a dedicated monastery, training Monks in ki and martial arts to act as defenders against any and all threats to their tribe of nomadic outlanders.

As years passed, more and more ships of Humans arrived ashore the eastern coasts of Pteris wishing to settle and trade in this unfamiliar land. Desiring to "illuminate the way" for these new waves of Humans seeking safe passage (as well as leverage their head start in charting the continent), the tribe sent out factions of their ki practitioners to serve as sherpas between major settlements in the region.
